This brand new PvPvE title from Sumo Digital Newcastle throws players in the shoes of Robin Hood and his band as they attempt to steal treasure out from under the nose of the supposed Sheriff of Nottingham. Two teams are pit against each other and their environment to find the treasure chest, liberate it from its binds, and transport it back to their specific drop point. Afterward, they can chose to keep the gold or share it with their community in true Robin Hood fashion.

The real question is: can all that be accomplished alone?

In short: no. However, there is a single-player-like mode available in the game.

Players can choose to be dropped into the maps on their own with no aims or goals to drive them. Simply put, they can spend a few hours running about the various locations of the woods without much worry as to other players or matches to hinder them. This mode is typically used for training and learning purposes, however. It’s common for players to use it to learn their new class or discover quirks about the location they can later use to their team’s advantage.

However, Hood, itself, isn’t a single-player game, nor does it have a single-player campaign. The main focus is PvPvE where two teams battle to steal loot and carry it away. A solitary player would likely have trouble trying to carry a full chest back on their own, after all.

Even Robin Hood had Little John.

Hood: Outlaws and Legends is available now for Windows PCs, PlayStation 4/5, and Xbox One/Series S|X.
