IOTA introduced the latest version of the Pollen testnet that will work with two Coordicide modules as we learn more about it today in our latest IOTA news.

A few weeks after IOTA introduced Mana in its testnet platform, the blockchain project enhanced the trials by releasing a new version of the Pollen testnet. The new version will be integrated into two Coordicide modules which will serve as a huge step towards achieving complete decentralization. In a recent blog post, IOTA introduced the latest version of Pollen v0.5.5 introducing a few changes to its network. Most of them are concentrated towards the Coordicide modules like consensus and autopeering.

The FPC protocol is used as a part of the consensus mechanism in the Coordicide solution with the versions failing to provide enough protection against the Sybil attacks but the integration of Mana will address this. The nodes will be able to form a quorum by selecting nodes to be queried proportionally to their Mana and the post called it the “first significant step to test our Mana system as a Sybil protection and reputation system in the testnet environment.”

Mana will be employed in autopeering which will ensure that the network is safe against the Eclipse attacks. In order to provide these threats, the process will enable the creation of the arbitrary nodes but there will be a limit to how many of them can be established with a certain amount of Mana. This will make it hard for the attackers to produce a lot of high Mana nodes. The statement also outlined the new steps in the development of the network including the integration with Congestion control, dRNG, and Reorg. The blockchain project will introduce Snapshots and timestamp voting before releasing Nectar at all.

IOTA was active in the past weeks with new developments while trying to distinguish the state from some past mistakes. One of them was integration on the Binance Smart Chain that allows users to yield, stake, and earn from more applications.

As reported a while ago, IOTA partnered with Cartesi as the chain-agnostic Layer-2 infrastructure to expand the use cases of Defi, gaming, and NFTs but both parties aimed to serve as the bridge between blockchain and traditional technological solutions. Based in Germany, the IOTA Foundation is a global non-profit establishment that focuses on the development and research of blockcahin solutions.
