Australia’s queen of the court, Ash Barty, will be able to enjoy retirement in the brand new “forever” home she is building west of Brisbane.
The Queensland-grown superstar grew up in the Ipswich region and is building her dream house in the residential community at Brookwater, which boasts the award-winning, Greg Norman-designed Brookwater Golf Course.
The 25-year-old stunned the tennis world on Wednesday by retiring from the sport, saying she had fulfilled her dreams and was “spent physically”.

But the humble hero has plenty to focus on personally.
A video released by Brookwater Residential shows Barty outlining the journey behind designing the new home she will share with her fiance, Garry Kissick.
In the video, Barty talks about growing up in the area and why she could not imagine living anywhere else.
“You can hear the birds in the morning. You can see the sun rise. It’s just all those little things that make a home a home,” Barty says.
“I love how low-key the lifestyle is here at Brookwater. That’s where I see myself forever.”
When designing the house, she reveals in the video how she worked with one of the in-house architects to prioritise outside space, and indoor/outdoor living.
“I love spending time in the kitchen, so I wanted my kitchen to be just how I imagined it.”
“We’ve done it! This is it, it’s on the page and I can’t wait to see the process of it being built.”
Brookwater, about 35 minutes from Brisbane’s CBD, is fast approaching the status of becoming a million-dollar-suburb, with a median house price of $960,000.
Barty’s shock announcement comes just weeks after she became the first home Australian Open champion in 44 years.
In an emotional social media video message with her close friend and former doubles partner Casey Dellacqua, the world No.1 said she was “so ready” to call it quits after achieving her lifetime ambition of winning Wimbledon last year.
