Indian Airlines Boosts Domestic Services From 22,980 to 25,309 Weekly Flights

Indian Airlines Indian airlines have increased their domestic services by 10.1 percent to 25,309 weekly flights in the 2018 summer schedule, up from 22,980 the previous season, according to the aviation regulator DGCA. IndiGo has expanded its domestic flight capacity by 10.4% to 11,130 weekly services for summer 2022, up from 10,084 weekly services in the same period last year, according to the regulator. In the previous 24 months, the COVID-19-induced travel limitations have had a negative impact on the Indian aviation industry. However, with COVID-19 cases on the decline, aviation travel has increased in recent weeks. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issued the following statement: “After a virtual conference on airport slots last month, Indian airlines have finalised their summer schedules. The summer timetable runs from March 27 until October 29.” According to the DGCA, “It was discovered that 25,309 weekly departures to and from 112 airports had been finalised. The scheduled airlines have suggested Gondia, Ziro, and Puducherry as additional airports among the 112 airports.” According to the regulator, Alliance Air, which is controlled by the Centre, will operate 17.6 % more weekly domestic flights this summer (982 flights) than in the same period last year (835 flights). In summer 2022, AirAsia India, which is owned by the Tata Group, will provide 1,601 weekly domestic flights, a 16%  increase over the previous year. SpiceJet will operate 14.2% more weekly domestic services in summer 2022 than in summer 2021, according to the company. It was reported that Air India, which was sold to the Tata Group last year, has expanded its weekly domestic services by 10% to 2,456 this summer. In comparison to summer 2021, Vistara and Go First will increase their weekly domestic services by just 6.7% and 1.9%, respectively, in summer 2022. FlyBig, a regional carrier, will provide 158 domestic flights per week in summer 2022, up from 54 in summer 2021, according to the company.
