Gets the green light

International Game Technology (IGT) has gotten final regulatory approval for its cashless gaming solution in Nevada. The London-based gaming technology company announced the approval for Resort Wallet on Tuesday. This means that IGT can now deploy in Nevada its fully integrated, turnkey cashless gaming solution that allows external funding.

For those casinos utilizing the IGT ADVANTAGE system, they can now give players the ability to use their mobile devices to easily add funds to their cashless gaming accounts. This means that there will no longer be a need to visit the casino cage, kiosk, or ATM or to handle cash when gambling in a casino.

Through IGTPay and Resort Wallet, people will be able to securely transfer funds to their Cashless Wagering Account from the likes of debit cards, credit cards, and bank accounts. The Cashless Wagering Account has PIN protection and players just need to tap their smartphone when they start and finish playing a slot machine.

Award-winning solutions

Both the IGTPay and Resort Wallet solutions have already been on the receiving end of industry awards, named as “Product Innovation of the Year” in last year’s Global Gaming Awards Las Vegas. IGT also won an International Gaming Award as “Technology Provider of the Year.”

IGT is a leader in gaming technology, covering all major types of gambling products including lotteries, sports betting, gaming machines, and digital gaming.

Speaking about getting regulatory approval for its cashless solution in Nevada was IGT senior vice president of global product management for VLT, payments & poker Ryan Reddy. He mentioned how this approval is the latest milestone for IGT’s cashless gaming suite and added that approval will “allow for players and operators throughout the State to enjoy the many benefits of cashless gaming and reinforces Nevada’s reputation as a future-forward gaming jurisdiction that is committed to advancing the player experience.”

The transition to cashless gaming

Cashless gaming has become increasingly prominent across the US casino space. There are many advantages associated with having cashless solutions available to players, including convenience, encouragement of social distancing, and better operational efficiency for casinos.

The first major Nevada casino to embrace cashless gaming was the Resorts World Las Vegas.

There has been a rule in place in Nevada that requires people to register in person to create a cashless gaming account. However, the Nevada Gaming Control Board recommended in December that the rule be removed, allowing people to remotely register for cashless gaming. The Nevada Gaming Commission has the final say on the matter and is set to consider this recommendation this month.
