Huya signs 5-year, $310 million media rights deal for all League esports in China

Livestreaming platform giant Huya has signed a five-year media rights deal with China’s League of Legends operator TJ Sports.

This new agreement, first reported on by The Esports Observer, will lock in the company as the sole broadcaster and distributor of the LPL, LDL, and LPL All-Star Event in the country. The deal is worth $310 million and will last from 2021 to 2025, according to the company’s 20-F report. But the right to LPL VODs will only last three years in comparison.

This also means that Huya will be able to create various video content for the league, including promotional content, written pieces, replays, highlights, and news commentaries. It’s a huge move as the League esports scene continues to grow in popularity with the ongoing rise of the LPL’s star teams.

Last January, Huya became the exclusive distribution partner for both the LCS and LEC, while also maintaining the exclusive rights to broadcast the LCK through 2022. With this latest move, the platform has become the only platform in the country to feature all four major regions.

One of the only events that Huya doesn’t have exclusive rights to is the World Championship. Bilibili, a popular media-sharing site in China, secured exclusive broadcast rights for the tournament at the end of 2019 for $113 million.

Worlds is quite a long way off, however. But you can watch the upcoming 2021 Mid-Season Invitational when the tournament begins next week on Thursday, May 6.

Wishiwashi is one of Pokémon Snap’s boss encounters, challenging players to get a photo of the Illumina Pokémon. Here’s how to get photos of Pokémon in all of its forms.

Wishiwashi is an Illumina Pokémon in the Maricopia portion of the Lental region. The fish can be found in its Solo Form and in its School Form.

The first time you visit the Maricopia Illumina Spot, you’ll be tasked to take a photo of Wishiwashi while its under the effects of the Illumina. That effect causes colorful circles to appear on the fish’s body. If it’s not already in that state, you’ll need to spend a few Illumina Orbs to get it there.

If you find Wishiwashi in its Solo Form, you’ll need to throw Illumina Orbs at several to get them to start glowing. Once enough are glowing, they’ll swim away and then return in the School Form. Throw a few more Illumina Orbs at the School Form Wishiwashi and it will gain the Illumina effect. If you don’t manage to get your shot before the effect wears off, you can throw some more Illumina Orbs to restore it.

Illumina Flowers scattered around the map can make it easier to hit a group of Solo Form Wishiwashi with a single orb, upping your Illumina Orb efficiency. When the fish gather around one of these flowers, if you hit the flower with an Illumina Orb you’ll illuminate all the fish around it.

Take enough photos of Illumina Wishiwashi and you’ll fill all the requirements you need to hit.

Jett can reach an elevated spot on Bind in VALORANT

Avatar

Published

on

A VALORANT player recently discovered a spot where Jett can reach an awning and cover B Long with ease on Bind.

Jett’s abilities allow her to reach spots that most other agents can’t. This is excellent for players who like peaking from surprising locations to secure easy kills. A VALORANT player found an awning near B Long on Bind that Jett can reach with her abilities.

Players must stand in a specific spot on the fountain near B Long and face the wall towards Hookah and mid. Once they are in the correct location, they can use the Updraft ability twice to launch themselves high into the air.

There is a metal awning on the wall where Jett can land without issue. The two Updrafts should be enough for most players to reach the spot, but they can also use the dash if they need to correct their movement in air.

If done correctly, Jett will land on the metal awning and can jump to the other canopy nearby with a regular jump. This is an excellent position to cover the B Long entrance as most players will not check there for players.

But Jett players should avoid using the spot consistently, since it requires multiple abilities and only works in specific situations. If players need to save their weapons for the next round, however, this is the perfect place to hide and secure a couple of easy kills.

Cloud9 secure NA’s first win, DWG fans hold their breath on third day of MSI 2021

Avatar

Published

on

Day three of the 2021 League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational delivered some of the best raw gameplay the tournament has seen yet. The group stage, largely, has been packed tight with matchups that result in the expected outcomes, but today, underdogs and stunners alike put up solid performances all around.

From Detonation FocusMe’s solid performance against the defending world champions DWG KIA, PaiN Gaming’s nearly completed base race against MAD Lions, and finally, Cloud9’s first win of the event, day three of MSI 2021 checked all the boxes.

Here are some of the biggest storylines and takeaways from the third day of the international tournament.

Pentanet gets on the board

After two days of being on the receiving end of Group A beatdowns, Oceania representatives PentanetGG threw themselves into the win column with a win over Unicorns of Love on day three. Despite losing to UOL by a margin of 12,000 gold on day one, Pentanet turned the tables on them today, earning the first win of their tournament run on the heels of a 15-4 kill score.

Granted, what both teams have in common is that they’ve both been running into the brick wall that is RNG. But at the very least, one of these two teams has to make it to the top six no matter what.

All of a sudden, the Group A qualification picture looks a lot more enticing. With both Pentanet and UOL heading into the second round-robin with records of 1-3, as well as a tied head-to-head record of one-to-one, tomorrow’s full schedule of Group A games could boil down to a potential tiebreaker match. Pentanet and UOL play each other twice tomorrow thanks to the quadruple round-robin rules of Group A, setting the situation up for a fight down to the wire.

DWG KIA have a scare

Photo via Riot Games

DWG KIA’s potentially perfect MSI run felt like it was in jeopardy today. Detonation FocusMe put up one of the hardest fights against DWG KIA by any team in months. Still, DWG KIA pulled a rabbit out of their hat and secured their third win of the tournament.

Not since the LCK Spring Split, when DWG KIA dropped games against Gen.G and KT Rolster ahead of their playoff run, has the team felt pressure quite like it did today. At no point in time against Detonation FocusMe did DWG KIA post a gold lead over 1,000, and by the time the game ended, the LCK champs still had fewer towers and neutral objectives than Detonation FocusMe.

Fans of DWG KIA shouldn’t be too stunned, though, as the team has looked fallible at times throughout 2021. While they’re certainly dominant, DWG KIA aren’t perfect. With 10 losses on the season so far, other teams have proven that they can hold their own with DWG. Granted, those losses don’t hold as much weight considering DWG walked into MSI with a match record of 16-2. But when a squad like Detonation FocusMe pushes them to the limits, it’s shocking, but certainly not an impossible outcome.

If anything, today’s game proved precisely how resilient DWG KIA can be on a dime. In a matter of seconds, they turned the tides of their contest against Detonation FocusMe. The team went from seeing their base pushed to hitting the enemy Nexus within moments. As the tournament progresses, it wouldn’t be stunning to see DWG KIA get taken to the brink again, but to actually take them down will be an entirely different story.

Cloud9 let the fans breathe

Photo via Riot Games

If Cloud9 had lost to Infinity Esports on Day three, their MSI run would have surely been in shambles. Mounting a three-game winning streak against the same three teams that beat them to open the group stage would have been a near-impossible task for the LCS champions. But the team turned things around in a much-needed bounce-back win to keep their top six chances alive. Cloud9’s mid/jungle duo of Perkz and Blaber turned their early-tournament woes around today, posting a combined  scoreline of 7/0/8 during their much-needed victory.

At the very least, the team’s loss to Detonation FocusMe yesterday stings a whole lot less. The LJL champions took defending world champions DWG KIA to the edge of a loss earlier in the day, solidifying the idea that Cloud9 weren’t upset by a team of nobodies. But even still, with the teams of Group C being so close together, Tuesday’s slate of Group C games could result in an extremely tight outcome with potential tiebreaker scenarios on the line.

How to complete Showdown de Jong SBC in FIFA 21 Ultimate Team

Avatar

Published

on

EA Sports added a Showdown 90-rated version of Luuk de Jong from Sevilla City to FIFA 21 today. It’s obtainable through FIFA 21 Ultimate Team’s squad-building challenges (SBC) menu.

EA also added an 89-rated version of Rodrygo de Goes from Real Madrid. These players will play against each other on the pitch on May 9 and the winner will receive a +2 overall in-game upgrade.

EA has mainly increased de Jong’s Pace (+36), but still greatly upgraded the rest of his skills, including Dribbling (+19), Passing (+16), Shooting (+14), Physical (+12), and Defending (+10), when you compare the Showdown version to his 80-rated gold card.

Showdown de Jong is a great card when you look at his stats and the possibility of the upgrade. You can apply the engine chemistry style to further increase his Passing (+6), Pace (+5), and Dribbling (+5), which are related to his striker position, and elevate his quality.

This SBC costs around 117,350 FUT coins on PS4 and 115,900 FUT coins on Xbox One, but it’s a bit more expensive on PC (149,850 FUT coins). The card is considerably less expensive than Rodrygo even though it has a higher rating, but still the price is worth it depending on your playstyle. His skills are incredible and will be even better if he receives the +2 upgrade after the match.

If you want to complete the Showdown de Jong SBC, you’ll have to turn in two squads: Sevilla and La Liga. The first solution requires an 84-rated squad with 80 chemistry minimum and at least one player from Sevilla. The second one asks for an 85-rated squad with 70 chemistry minimum, one Inform card, and at least one player from LaLiga.

Here’s the cheapest solution to complete Showdown Luuk de Jong SBC right now, according to FUTBIN, a website that specializes in FIFA content.
