In Riot’s tactical FPS game Valorant, there are 16 unique “Agents” or different characters all of whom have their own abilities that impact the game in important ways. This can range from offensive flashbangs, to defensive walls. All agents in Valorant play a purpose, but they cannot all be unlocked immediately after launching the game.

Valorant’s Agents unlock from one main option that allows for both free-to-play players as well as those that spend to gather characters. These are known as Agent contracts. These contracts are a 10 tiered battle pass like roadmap to unlocking content. After the fifth tier of the contract, players will receive the Agent that contract correlates to, and from then on will be able to use that agent in all game modes as long as no other player locks them in first.
The contract can be leveled up by playing the game and completing daily and weekly mission, or simply based on the games played. The five tiers up to the Agent unlock can also be bought immediately for 1,000 Valorant Points, or $10. This allows for any player to decide how they wish to unlock these characters whether it be slowly grinding games or simply putting some money in to get what a player wants when they want it.
