Diablo 4 was delayed last fall, but Blizzard Entertainment hasn’t slowed down on the pace of development it seems. The game has a massive amount of work left to finish, but it’s crawling ever closer. And with massive AAA releases like this, a beta will be a huge opportunity for Blizzard to catch and fix bugs and stability issues. And with it being an online game, that’s even more important. It would be a very bad thing to have another broken launch.

There’s no confirmed date yet, so it may be a while. The Diablo 4 beta hasn’t been announced yet, but Blizzard has opened up beta signups to let them gauge player interest. Here is how to sign up for the Diablo IV beta.

How to sign up for the Diablo 4 beta

You need to have a valid and active Battle.net account to sign up. If you don’t you need to make one and verify it. First, go to the official Blizzard Entertainment website for the game and sign in to your Battle.net account. When signed in, scroll down until you find the pre-register button. You will be asked to put in basic info about yourself to complete your beta signup, and then you’re done.

There are a few things to keep in mind about this. For one thing, Blizzard won’t invite everyone to the beta. You will be more likely to be invited if you’ve helped test other releases before, and if you’re an active use of many other games. The RPG will require an online connection to play, so there’s that issue that will affect some players.

Diablo 4’s new release date has not been announced yet, and Microsoft’s planned acquisition of Activision Blizzard shouldn’t change things too much. The hype for the new game continues to build, and Diablo 4 is still a ways away. Hopefully, there’s enough time to deliver a well-balanced and fun experience. Recent news about the upcoming RPG looks pretty promising. The most recent trailer for the game can be seen below, revealing more details about the setting and what’s changed. One big new addition is a huge increase in dungeons—Diablo 4 will have over 150 of them, in fact. These forgotten places are many, and just one is shown off in the new trailer. A druid burial site called Wretched Caves and a swampy ruin called Flooded Depths are also showcased. Check that out below.

In addition to the massive amount of dungeons, there’s a huge map to explore. The secrets spread across the map will include dungeons and hidden zones, but also unique encounters. The illusion of a more varied world is something Blizzard has been trying really hard to sell.

A big part of this lies with the art direction and choices made when designing levels. With multiple regions and many map varieties, there’s a ton of shifting themes in the level art. The game has “five distinct regions and hundreds of dungeons that you will experience,” according to environments art director Chris Ryder. And with these new regions, the tone is also shifting.  The team is taking “a darker and more grounded interpretation than earlier installments.” They really want the player to feel this is an entirely new game.
