How do you fly in Shadowlands? 9.1 has finally been announced, and with it a wide range of new content for players to explore – including the ability to fly in the Shadowlands!

Unlike previous expansions like Legion and Warlords of Draenor, there will be no Pathfinder achievement to be earned. Instead, the item Memories of Sunless Skies must be earned, which unlocks flying in the four Shadowlands zone account-wide, just as Pathfinder did.

Once Patch 9.1 launches on June 29, the max Renown cap will go from the current 40, doubled to 80. You must reach Renown 44 and complete “The Last Sigil,” chapter 12 of the Covenant Campaign. Completing “The Last Sigil” will earn you Memories of Sunless Skies, allowing for account-wide flying in Ardenweald, Bastion, Maldraxxus, and Revendreth.

NOTE: Flying will not work in The Maw, Oribos, or the new zone to come in 9.1, Korthia.

Seeing as it requires Renown 44, and Renown is locked behind weekly time-gated content, the earliest players will be getting their hands on their flying mount in Shadowlands will be the second week of Patch 9.1.

Additionally, unlocking flying in Shadowlands will reward a Covenant mount, specific to one of the four you are loyal to.
