@morpheuslordMorpheuslord

I am an ethical hacker who learned hacking from youtube. I like to help people with the learning of necessary skills.

In this article, I am discussing how you can set up a complete hacking lab for the most affordable price possible.

For hacking, you need not have a really powerful computer you can start hacking using a really week PC also but in the long run, you should have a really powerful PC to handle the workload such as password cracking, sending & receiving a huge amount of TCP or any protocol packets, etc.

Hacking does not have any system certification you can start hacking using your phone also I have previously written an article related to this on how you can convert your android into a hacking machine. You can check it out from my hacker noon profile.

Note

: I am an Indian and the costs will be in rupees and not in dollars so the rates might vary from where you are in the world.

Topics to cover

  • Clusters
  • Raspberry pi computer set
  • Hardware for pi computer set
  • Software for pi computer set
  • Advantages of pi computer set
  • Disadvantages of pi computer set
  • The total cost of pi computer set

Clusters

As a beginner, you don’t need much of a really powerful PC. You can have a collection of a huge amount of modular computers running as one computer. These are known as clusters and they have a really simple function, that is:

  • Divide workload
  • Is much simple and faster
  • Can complete tasks with less strain and require no overclocking
  • Is really easy to setup
Things required

For a cluster, you need to have raspberry pi 4 of differing ram size, SD cards, network switch, connection module, casing, etc.

You can refer to this youtube video for more info on how to set this cluster.

Davy Wybiral, and Rasim Muratovic

Raspberry pi computer set

If you did not understand what a cluster is, and the setting up process is going above your head (like what I felt), don’t worry it can be simplified. Using the simplified version of the computer is not as strong as the cluster but really fast and productive.

Our goal is:

personal specification:

  • To make a fast PC.
  • To make it at an affordable price.

system specification:

  • Needs to have wifi and Bluetooth connectivity.
  • Needs to have a fast ram.
  • Most storage
  • Best performance

Hardware for pi computer set

The hardware required is as follows:

  • Raspberry pi 4 8Gb ram ( * 2)
  • Raspberry pi power supply ( * 2)
  • SD cards( * 6)
  • Monitor
  • HDMI cables ( * 2)
  • Headset for Gamers
  • Pendrive 64Gb (*2)
  • Alfa network adapter
  • Bluetooth keyboard and mouse set

Raspberry pi 4 8Gb is a standard raspberry pi with built-in wifi and Bluetooth connectivity with its power supply.

SD cards for this build you need to have 6 SDcard with different size’s depending on your requirements my suggestions are:

  • 3 SD cards with 128 Gb space
  • 3 SD cards with 64 GB space

The three SD cards with 128 Gb space are for windows 10 which will run some personal and some hacking software.

  • The first windows SD card is for personal use
  • The second windows SD card is for more professional use like college and work
  • The third windows SD card is for the hacker’s lab

The first two SD cards are really straightforward but the third SD card contains hacking software like RAT(Remote Access Trojan) creation software, WSL2 Kali, putty, python, etc.

The next three SD cards of 64Gb are for testing and a server for holding valuable data like a backup, etc.

  • The first testing SD card Ubuntu.
  • The second testing SD card windows.
  • The third testing SD card Debian.

The first and third are pretty straightforward but the second one has some additional software installed like a metasploitable hackable machine which you will use to practice hacking websites.

The idea for having 2 Linux systems is that we can use the Distro according to what we are hacking and have additional flexibility to do certain scans and enumeration during bug bounties and many other tasks.

The windows system, on the other hand, is a vulnerable system to practice payload injection, RDP exploits, ssh exploits, tools testing, setting up a vulnerable machine, etc.

The monitor, HDMI, and headset have only one use no need to write about that.

The two Pendrives mentioned are very important as we do not have much space in such a system so we can opt for an extra 256 Gb of memory containing some of the huge files like my huge custom password file over 50Gb of passwords for brute-forcing.

Alfa adapter is a standard network adapter for network pentesting and enumeration so we can add that also to the list.

Software for pi computer set

The main software should be installed in the hacker’s windows lab, the Debian system, Ubuntu system, and the windows machine for practice.

Things to be installed:

In Debian:

  • ssh connection
  • RDP connection (optional)
  • desktop x-face (optional)
  • Git
  • Brave

Install ssh and server:

sudo apt update
sudo apt install openssh-server

installing brave is really simple so nothing to explain it.

In Ubuntu:

In windows Target:

  • RDP connection
  • VirtualBox Metasploitable
  • Git

In the windows hackers lab:

The windows hackers lab software requirements are:

  • VirtualBox or VMWare with ParrotOS
  • Kali wsl2 with xrdp and desktop xface
  • Putty
  • Pentest box

I suggest Kali Linux in Wsl2 if you follow my previous articles you might have read that this is really efficient and fast compared to VirtualBox but you can use both Kali and Parrot Os on the same VM machine.

But Putty and Pentest Box are standard pentesting software for windows users’ great tools collection and configs.

Advantages of pi computer set

  1. Easy to setup: The easiest computer build even a kid can build such a computer.
  2. Fast: Being an 8Gb computer it is fast and if combined with extra cooling then the pc will be in Flash mode it is super fast.
  3. compact: The system is built on a computer module the size of a small notebook so you can carry the machine in your bag or in a really stealth place where ever you want.
  4. Flexible: The flexibility in such, stealth and powerful system does not have any limits at all you can do epic things with it.

Disadvantages of pi computer set

  1. The storage size: The storage size is limited to a max of 128Gb max and it won’t boot with higher storage.
  2. Configuration: For some, there might be some miss configs while Booting so it might cause some issues.

The total cost of pi computer set

The Raspberry Pi 4 8Gb ram is Rs 12000/- in India but comes with a power supply, In-built wifi & Bluetooth.

  1. For the build we need two of them then it will cost approx of Rs 24000/-
  2. The Pendrives of 128Gb in the total cost is Rs 2800/-
  3. Monitor standard one costs Rs 10000/-
  4. SDcard 128Gb 3 cards cost in total Rs 3600/-
  5. Keyboard and mouse Bluetooth costs Rs 5000/-
  6. Alfa adapter costs approx Rs 5000/-
  7. The Headset Bluetooth costs approx Rs 2000/
  8. The HDMI costs approx Rs 3000/-

So the total costs for all the above things are Rs 50200/- or $ 700 approx.

For just shy of 700 dollars you can get a really good hacking setup I think it is cheap compared to paying 1000 dollars or 150000 rupees for a really powerful computer where you can have 2 computers of reasonable power. The amounts might vary from where you are living so check the above things and conclude it might increase the value or even decrease the value and be really cheap. If you take my word where ever you are it won’t cost your entire savings for just one pc it will be foreshore really cheap and you can upgrade it whenever you want.

The price of the

raspberry pi

is from its official website and the rest pricing is from my local stores.

The JUST Report: “The Clock Is Ticking”

Published

on

“Ethical Markets highly recommends this report from our friends at JUST Capital.

~Hazel Henderson, Editor“

“The Clock is Ticking”

A deadly heat wave in the Pacific Northwest, fatal flooding in western Europe and China, and reports that the Miami building collapse may have been accelerated by rising sea water and extreme weather conditions have brought fresh urgency to tackling the climate crisis.

Adapting to the physical impacts of a changing climate is part of it. Insurers have already begun to raise premiums or pull out of high risk markets altogether, and disruptions to the food and agriculture, construction, health, and transportation sectors are also inevitable.

Transitioning to a decarbonized economy is also a must. A new Axios poll found that the majority of Americans across all 50 states support a transition to 100% clean energy by 2035. And our own polling routinely identifies reducing environmental impacts and tackling climate change as priorities for business performance.

In truth, many businesses are taking action. In a recent Goldman Sachs sustainability report, analysts noted that 70% and 59% of companies in the utilities and energy sectors, respectively, have some form of greenhouse gas reduction target, and 24% in each have net zero targets. It was also reported that BlackRock voted against 255 board directors at companies, including ExxonMobil, during the recent proxy season because of their climate records. And the green bond market continues to burgeon around the world. Investor demand appears to be so intense that, according to Citi, issuers in many cases can now raise cheaper financing via the issuance of green bonds than traditional corporate paper.

The question is, is it enough? A new report from Ceres noted that while 76% of 96 of the largest American companies have publicly affirmed the science of climate change, with the vast majority setting greenhouse gas reduction goals, only 40% have worked with lawmakers to advocate for complementary policies – and 21% actually lobbied against them. Our research on trade associations found a similar lack of transparency.

Americans want to see meaningful action on climate change. And as Ceres put it, “the clock is ticking”.

Be well,
Martin Whittaker

3 Factors Which Affect Cryptocurrency Price

Published

on

Cryptocurrencies are playing an ever greater role in the way we live our lives, including how we spend our free time online. Increasingly, people are logging on to sites like nolimit casino to enjoy the strategy of blackjack, the thrill of roulette and the entertainment of slots, all while funding their enjoyment using cryptocurrency as a form of payment.

But unlike traditional means of currency, crypto is often subject to volatile price fluctuations, meaning that it can be worth significantly more (or less) one day than it is the next. This can make managing a crypto wallet a difficult endeavor for those who favor the payment system when gambling, shopping and browsing online – so how can they stay abreast of the latest developments in the sector and better understand the factors which affect the market? Here’s a quick run through some of the biggest contributors to the rises and falls of cryptocurrency valuations.

Supply and demand

As with any commodity, a cryptocurrency is only worth what others are willing to pay for it. Some, like Bitcoin, have benefited from the fact that there is a finite supply – some 21 million Bitcoins in total, with around only four million that have yet to be mined. This means that the supply will never increase above that figure, even as demand continues to grow. By contrast, Ripple has a cap of 100 billion XRP coins, over half of which had yet to be mined at the time of writing. This surplus of supply means that Ripple is a lot cheaper than Bitcoin – at least for now.

Regulations

Because it’s a very new technology, there is understandably a considerable amount of hesitancy among the investment community when it comes to trading in cryptocurrencies. As they become more commonplace and widely accepted in society, that trepidation is likely to ebb away in the long term – especially if they come to be formally recognized by national governments. Of course, the inverse is also true, as was recently witnessed with the news that China has banned financial institutions and online payment companies from accepting cryptocurrencies earlier this year. The shockwaves from the announcement saw crypto prices come tumbling down around the globe.

Public perception

It isn’t just a country’s official stance on crypto which can have a huge bearing on its value, either. Public perception of a commodity is shaped by a wide variety of factors, including the views and actions of societal leaders. A prominent example of this kind of factor occurred earlier this year, when tech billionaire and CEO of Tesla Elon Musk said that he would be dropping all use of Bitcoin until the technology behind the currency became more eco-friendly. The ramifications of Musk’s announcement not only put a squeeze on the price of Bitcoin, but also had a knock-on effect on the valuations of almost all other cryptocurrencies, as well.

Due to their volatility and unpredictability, cryptocurrencies can represent a risky investment. However, the factors which affect their fluctuation in price can be clearly traced, allowing savvy investors to make informed decisions on when to buy and sell crypto.

Tumblr debuts Post+, a subscription service for Gen Z creators

Published

on

As Twitter launches Super Follows, YouTube adds new monetization tools, and Instagram embraces e-commerce, the social media sphere is heating up with new ways for creators to make a living. Now, Tumblr is joining the fray with Post+, the platform’s first attempt at allowing users to monetize their content. Post+ is debuting today in limited beta for an exclusive selection of creators in the US, who were hand-picked by Tumblr.

Like Twitter’s Super Follows, Tumblr’s Post+ lets creators choose what content they want to put behind a paywall, whether that’s original artwork, personal blog posts, or Destiel fanfic. Creators can set the price for their subscriber-only content starting at $3.99 per month, with additional tiers at $5.99 and $9.99. The process of making content under Post+ is the same as any other Tumblr post — all creators will have to do is check a box to indicate that the post is for paying subscribers only, whether that’s a video, audio clip, text post, image, etc.

“Not reserved only for professionals, or those with 10K followers or higher, Tumblr’s Post+ will push the boundaries of what’s considered money-making content on the internet: Shitposters, memelords, artists, fan fiction writers, all of the above and everyone in between will be able to create content while building their community of supporters, and getting paid with Post+,” a Tumblr spokesperson told TechCrunch.

For millennials who live-blogged their reading of the last Hunger Games” book on its release day in 2010, Tumblr might seem like a relic of the past. Founded in 2007, the platform has gone through plenty of change over the years. In 2013, Tumblr was acquired by Yahoo for $1.1 billion, and then Yahoo was later acquired by Verizon.

But a massive shift came for Tumblr in December 2018, when the platform banned all sexually explicit content and pornography. A month prior, the Tumblr app had been removed from the iOS App Store after child pornography passed through the app’s filtering technology, which led the platform to ban pornography entirely. Four months after the ban, Tumblr’s monthly page views had declined by 151 million, or 29%. Since then, the platform has retained a core userbase, hovering between about 310 million and 377 million page views per month, according to SimilarWeb, though the analytics still indicate a slight downward trend. Tumblr declined to provide its monthly active user numbers, but shared that the platform has over 11 million posts per day and 500 million blogs.

In 2019, the platform was sold to Automattic, the company that owns WordPress. Though Tumblr hasn’t exhibited significant growth since the fateful porn ban, under its new ownership, it’s exploring new ways to generate profit by creating features that appeal to its now younger demographic. According to Tumblr, over 48% of users are Gen Z. These Gen Z users spend 26% more time on the platform than older bloggers, and their average daily usage time is increasing over 100% from year to year.

YouTube to pilot test shopping from livestreams with select creators

Published

on

YouTube will begin pilot testing a new feature that will allow viewers to shop for products directly from livestream videos. The feature will initially launch with just a handful of creators and brands, the company says, and is an expansion of the integrated shopping experience YouTube began beta testing earlier this year.

That feature was designed only for on-demand videos, and allowed viewers to tap into the “credibility and knowledge” of trusted creators in order to make informed purchases, the company explained at the time. It said it would roll out to more creators over the course of 2021.

More recently, YouTube tested livestreamed shopping with a one-day shopping event focused on small businesses.

YouTube’s video platform, for years, has been a powerful tool for product discovery, as its over 2 billion logged-in users per month turn to the service to watch product reviews, demos, unboxings, shopping hauls, and other content that could inspire future purchases. But creators who wanted to sell from their YouTube videos would often have to promote affiliate links to online stores through the video’s description or in-video elements, like cards or end screens.

In more recent years, YouTube also introduced a merch shelf that would allow viewers to shop a set of specific products the creator selected.

The integrated shopping experience, meanwhile, allows viewers to shop the products shown in the video itself by tapping on a “view products” button, which brings up a list of the items being featured.

This feature allows YouTube to better compete with the growing number of video shopping experiences becoming available from both startups and competitors, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok Pinterest, Amazon, and Snapchat. Many of those include support for livestream videos, too.

Over the past year, for example, startups like Bambuser, Popshop Live, Talkshoplive, Whatnot, and others have raised multi-million dollar rounds to invest in their own live video shopping businesses. Meanwhile, Facebook recently launched Live Shopping Fridays to test live shopping within the beauty, fashion and skincare space. And Walmart partnered with TikTok on livestream shopping events on multiple occasions.

YouTube’s own interest in this space has been heating up, as well, as just this week the company announced it was acquiring Indian video shopping app Simsim — an indication of Google’s interest in further integrating video shopping experiences into its own platform. Google also integrated video shopping into its Shopping search business, which included one effort from Shoploop, a video shopping product that graduated from Google’s in-house incubator, Area 120.

The expansion of YouTube’s integrated video shopping experience was announced today alongside other new Google Shopping features, including the addition of new section that organizes deals and sales on Google’s Shopping tab, which will be free for merchants who want to list.
