The Lake Trio has arrived in Pokemon GO, and they’ll be testing the might of Trainers worldwide in raids. Don’t be fooled by their adorable appearances, as they are powerful Psychic-types, especially Azelf.

Here’s how to defeat Azelf in Pokemon GO.

Azelf is a member of the Lake Trio, and originally made its debut in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. It’s a Psychic-type legendary that represents willpower, and boasts high Attack power. While this hasn’t been the first time it’s appeared in Pokemon GO, things have changed since then, and players are now armed with powerful Pokemon that can counter this psychic monster.

Azelf is a Psychic-type, so Trainers need to bust out their best Ghost, Bug, and Dark-types to face this legendary. Darkrai and Giratina are strong in this situation, as Azelf’s moves will be weaker because of their typings. Players must use their resistances to their advantages, and retaliate against Azelf’s weak Psychic moves with powerful Dark and Ghost attacks.

Of course, should trainers find themselves lacking these specific Pokemon, their best Ghost, Bug, and Dark-type Pokemon will serve well. Shadow Pokemon also serve as a great substitute, and don’t forget about Pokemon that can Mega Evolve. 

Its base stats are as follows: it has 270 Attack, 151 Defense, and 181 Stamina. Do not use any Fighting or Poison-types against it, as Azelf could deal massive damage with its very high Attack stat. Take advantage of its low Defense stat with powerful, super effective moves for a quick and powerful victory. 

Azelf can be challenged in raids this September in Pokemon GO, exclusively in The Americas/Greenland.
