HAVU have decided to place Jemi “jemi” Mäkinen on the bench, the Finnish organization has announced. The team will evaluate their options while they use the coach as a stand-in in the meantime.
The decision to place the 21-year-old on the sidelines came from the team’s management following a “prolonged period of poor results,” as the Finnish side have been unable to replicate the form that saw them finish second in the Pinnacle Cup 2021 in April and climb to a peak 14th ranking.

HAVU most recently placed 13th-15th in Spring Sweet Spring 2, third-fourth at the Funspark ULTI Europe Regional Series 2, and got off to a poor start in Elisa Invitational Summer with losses to Copenhagen Flames and 777 in the Swiss group stage, with jemi averaging a team-lowest 0.85 rating over the course of the three tournaments.
“For the past two months our results haven’t been what we’ve wanted. It’s been a real struggle to find the form we had early this year and now it’s time to search for other solutions,” disturbed explained in a statement on HAVU’s website. “With HAVU’s management, we have decided to bench Jemi for the time being to evaluate our options. I will be standing in for the upcoming matches before the player break.”
The coach has been out of action for much of the past four years, ever since he stepped down from a playing role in HAVU in mid-2017. Since then he has occasionally stood in for the Finnish team, with his last match in HLTV.org’s records having taken place in late-2019.
HAVU will be using the following lineup in upcoming matches:
Olli “sLowi” Pitkänen
Jani “Aerial” Jussila
Sami “xseveN” Laasanen
Lasse “ZOREE” Uronen
Taneli “disturbed” Veikkola
Jemi “jemi” Mäkinen (benched)
