GRID Becomes First Esports Data Firm with IBIA Accreditation

It was recently revealed that GRID Esports, a leading esports data company, has secured sought-after IBIA accreditation. This certification came following an intense audit that was conducted by the eCommerce and Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance organisation. As a key milestone for the business, GRID Esports becomes the first esports-based data firm to secure IBIA accreditation.

This is an aspirational certification for any company to receive, and GRID Esports joins the likes of Stats Perform and Sportsradar, the former of which has secured IBIA accreditation numerous times. As a service provider, GRID Esports supplies its customers with a gameplay data platform, built around the provision of tooling, APIs, and data visualisations. For the founders of GRID, the core of the company’s journey kicked off in 2018, when it became the official data distributor for the CSGO London Major.

Certified and on the GRID

GRID Esports provides key data services to big industry customers.

GRID has grown remarkably fast in a relatively short period of time, quickly rising to become a data and service provider for some of the biggest names in the business. According to information highlighted by GRID Esports itself, more than 17,905 esports matches were processed by the company in 2021. As the firm matures, key partnerships are being created, and now, prolific certification is being secured.

In a statement, Khalid Ali, the CEO of the IBIA, spoke highly of the news:

‘This is an important milestone in the evolution of the data standards accreditation, with GRID being the first esports-focused data company achieving the accreditation. It recognises a high level of integrity in the collation and distribution of esports data by GRID, which in turn gives an important reassurance to those parties wishing to utilise that data that it is of a high level of reliability and accuracy.’

As the esports industry becomes increasingly popular, there’s a considerable need to establish regulatory and governing bodies within the business at large. With the IBIA accreditation at its back, GRID Esports becomes a unique driving force in the data and esports betting space.

This growth and expansion were referenced by Mikael Westerling, CSO at GRID Esports, in a statement:

‘GRID has been created upon the conviction that official data assets should be standard in gaming and esports. For the past four years, we have been building and improving our technology to ensure that the quality of our service, reliability of data and level of support we offer to our partners enable the sustainable growth of the industry we are passionate about.’

At present, GRID is partnered with the likes of Riot Games, Krafton, WePlay, and BLAST. Their data services cover everything from League of Legends and Valorant to CSGO and PUBG. With this accreditation secured, GRID’s data services will become all that more attractive to potential customers.
