RUIN X has sold for $2.713888 million

A FULLY rendered Gold Coast house has sold under the hammer for $2.713888 million in a “bizarre” auction on the Gold Coast on Sunday.

The buyer was a 26-year-old telephone bidder from Melbourne who made a shock appearance at the property midway through the auction.

He said he saw the house, named RUIN X, on social media and knew he had to have it.

Welcome to RUIN X.

“It’s one-of-a-kind, there’s nothing like it in Australia,” he said.

“Being young, it’s my kind of style.

“I’ve always wanted to move to the Gold Coast so yes, it’s great to get my dream house.”

RUIN X is full of arches and curves.

A crowd of more than 300 squeezed into 31 Beaconsfield Drive, Burleigh Waters to watch the auction of RUIN X, a that was the most viewed on realestate.com.au last month.

Auctioneer Justin Nickerson got the crowd excited, and joked Kolloshe agent Eoghan Murphy would backflip into the pool once the house sold.

Bidding kicked off at 11.09am with a $2.5 million offer from a telephone bidder.

It was a drawn out process before the next bid — $2.505 million from another telephone bidder— was placed.

Negotiations then took place behind closed doors.

At 11.55am, Mr Nickerson announced the house was sold at $2.713888 million which attracted a huge applause.

The vendors, Emma Sweeny and Matt Jamieson were seen congratulating the buyer – he walked through the door halfway through the auction, much to the surprise of the agents and vendors.

Mr Murphy said it was one of the most “bizarre” auctions he had ever held.

“It honestly was the most difficult campaign I’ve run just with all the hype and the huge amount of inquiries we received,” Mr Murphy said.

“The auction was quite bizarre but we got the same result we wanted in the end.”

A wardrobe fit for royalty!

It’s a big payday for Emma Sweeny and Matt Jamieson at Ruin X.

Ms Sweeny said she and Mr Jamieson were thrilled with the result.

“We bought this property for $775,000 – what a result in just 14 months,” she said.

“It’s a dream come true.”

The property was one of the most viewed on realestate.com.au last month.

“We wanted to create a home that had wow factor, a first-of-its-kind, you felt comfortable and welcomed as soon as you walked in, an entertainer’s dream, minimal (and) an incredible layout,” Ms Sweeny said.

From the street the house makes a statement with canary palms, rooftop plants and a cobblestone driveway.

Inside and snake door handles, a 1.5m Timothy Oulton chandelier in the living area, wall niches and built-in rendered bed only add to the ‘ruin’ vibe throughout.

The highest price paid for a house in Burleigh Waters was $4.05m for 6 Clinton Ave which sold in January.
