What Makes This Possible?

According to a post from a Seedbox employee, there are three main players to make this possible:

  1. ATRAM is the product provider that created the funds and manages them
  2. GCASh is the product distributor that provides the platform where the public can buy the funds
  3. Seedbox is the tech provider that connects GCash and ATRAM, ensuring that when a user buys on GCash, ATRAM receives it and updates its records.

As of Feb. 4, 2021, all are viewable on the GCash but users can only invest on the Peso Money Market Fund. We’ll know more details once the funds are officially launched on the app. In the meantime, you can also check them on Seedbox.

No Crypto?

As of 2019, GCash has 20 million registered users and a popular crypto onramp/offramp in the Philippines. No crypto fund is available via the app but GCash itself can be used to transfer funds to local crypto exchanges and P2P marketplaces. Perhaps customer demand may see GCash putting a crypto fund on the roadmap for 2021 but we shall see.
