Garena Free Fire has been a pretty popular and successful mobile game for a while now, but it seems that it’s getting ready to take the next step towards greatness. The Free Fire revenue has been reportedly revealed for the first quarter of this year, and it’s looking phenomenal right now.
Sensor Tower revealed the revenue. According to the data site, the Free Fire revenue for this past quarter was about $100 million. That is just for the past quarter, so the time of January 2021-March 2021; only three months, and it made that much money.
That is an unbelievable amount of cash for a mobile game, especially to kick off the new year when many players are still in school and work; we aren’t even dealing with summer vacations and the like yet. But that astronomical number is only made better when compared to other games.
What is interesting about this whole situation is that PUBG Mobile doesn’t even come close to reaching the amount that Free Fire was able to get during that same amount of time. It’s a lot of money even still, but the revenue was just not close in comparison.
PUBG Mobile Revenue Is a Fraction of Free Fire’s
The PUBG Mobile revenue for the same time, spanning the first three months of the year, was around $68 million. That is still an impressive number and one that is at the top of the charts for mobile revenue for that time but is barely two-thirds of what Free Fire did.
Furthermore, we can see just how crazy this improvement for the Free Fire revenue is by taking a look at how the mobile battle royale title did last year in comparison. According to Sensor Tower, this does mean that the game could reach a whopping approximately 450% of what it was able to do last year in 2020 during the same time.
That is incredible growth during that time, which is crazy when you compare it to PUBG Mobile. Though that game had a lot of revenue, its growth was only around 9% over what happened last year.
Those numbers are on two different levels, showing that the growth may be in a declining or simply stagnant point for PUBG Mobile at this time, while Free Fire is likely well on its way towards its peak right now. This shows that Garena Free Fire might be the next huge mobile game out there.
What Garena Free Fire Is All About
It’s looking like if someone wants to play a mobile battle royale game on Android or iOS, it’s becoming increasingly clear that Free Fire is the hotness that you will possibly want to be part of. Of course, if you are a tried-and-true PUBG Mobile player, that will likely keep you going.
Garena Free Fire is claiming that it’s also the most downloaded mobile game globally for 2020, making it clear that the community and player base are only going to continue growing from here on out.

According to Sensor Tower, Call of Duty Mobile comes just behind PUBG Mobile in revenue at around $62 million. That is just behind the last battle royale game, and, better yet, it experienced some insane growth this past year as well.
For Call of Duty Mobile, that is an 80% increase over the revenue that it could get during the first quarter of 2020. This shows that the mobile Call of Duty title is likely still on a huge upswing right now and will likely not slow down anytime soon.
It will be interesting to see how the revenues look a year from now in 2022 when the first quarter is all said and done. But, more than likely, we are going to see a slowdown for PUBG Mobile at least. That game will likely step out of the way to make way for the new greatness: New State.
PUBG New State is the pseudo-sequel of sorts for the mobile battle royale game and is built from the ground up for Android and iOS. The new version, set in the future, includes some new weapons, abilities, and more and is scheduled to come out this year.
We imagine that PUBG Mobile’s popularity will drop considerably when New State comes out, as many players will be moving to that game instead.
