Game Devs of Color Expo will return for its sixth year Sept. 23-27, the organization announced Tuesday. Submissions for both featured games and speakers are now open, and would-be submitters have until April 17 to get their shots in. Submitting is free.

GDoC Expo, as it’s often referred to, aims to amplify the creative power and reach of people of color in the games industry. The expo first launched in 2016 as an in-person event held at the Schomburg Center in Harlem, New York. The COVID-19 pandemic forced it online in 2020, but that hasn’t prevented the expo from continuing to grow.
In addition to its slate of developer talks, interviews, panels, and both video and tabletop game showcases, the 2020 event had a Steam event tie-in. More than 1,500 people attended the event virtually, and more than $90,000 was distributed in-game development grants.
The 2021 event will remain online. Registration information has yet to be detailed.
