The Avicii Arena will host Gambit as they secured themselves a ticket to the Champions stage after taking down NIP 2-0. Vladislav “nafany” Gorshkov‘s squad came into the series with victories over ENCE and regional rivals Virtus.pro and are now ready to prove their worth on the biggest stage in CS:GO.
NIP will have one last chance to qualify for the playoffs of the Major as they fall to the 2-2 pool. The home heroes went flawless on the first day of the Legends stage against Astralis and MOUZ but have now lost two best-of-three series in a row, the first of which was against Natus Vincere on Sunday.
We witnessed a really strong start for NIP on Gambit‘s map pick of Dust2. The Swedes played a proactive CT side, catching the CIS squad off guard and enabling Fredrik “REZ” Sterner to go ballistic with 19 frags in an 11-4 half. It was a completely different story after switching sides as Gambit and Dmitry “sh1ro” Sokolov came alive on the defense, shutting down the Swedish T side and taking the map 16-13.
nafany‘s team gave us another dominant CT side on Inferno. The 11-4 half was marked by a flawless pistol round from Gambit and NIP‘s failure to gain any traction on the offense. The Swedes were unable to recreate their opponents’ comeback on the previous map as Gambit swiftly closed the map 16-6, taking the series 2-1.
