Forspoken, an upcoming action-adventure from Luminous Productions and Square Enix, has been delayed until October.

Originally set to release in May on PS5 and PC, Forspoken puts you in the shoes of a young woman called Frey. Taken from the modern-day New York City she knows and loves, Frey finds herself transported to the fantasy realm of Athia, where she’s given magical powers. With them, she has to fight against mythical beasts, exploring a huge world and, ultimately, find her way back home.

But now, players will need to wait a little longer. Luminous Productions has today announced that Forspoken will instead release on 11th October. In a statement published on Twitter, the company says it needs more time to deliver an experience deserving of the new IP. The statement reads:

“We have made the decision to move the release date of Forspoken to October 11, 2022. Our vision for this exciting new IP is to deliver a game world and hero that gamers across the globe will want to experience for years to come, so getting it right is extremely important to us. To that end, during the next few months we will focus all of our efforts on polishing the game and can’t wait for you all to experience Frey’s journey this fall.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We look forward to sharing more about Forspoken with you soon.”

For players who are looking forward to jumping into Forspoken‘s world, this is undoubtedly disappointing. But we’re happy that the development team is taking the time it needs to deliver a strong product. We’re hopeful it’ll be a much better experience for it.
