Date:

Hawaiian Airlines Hawaiian Airlines has been rated the most punctual airline in the United States for the 18th year in a row by the United States Department of Transportation (DOT). According to data given by the Department of Transportation last month, the airline was on time for 90.14% of its 60,654 flights in 2021, making it the most punctual American airline. This is the Honolulu-based company’s 18th consecutive year receiving the award. The punctuality rate surpasses that of its 2020 year, when 87.5% of its 45,504 flights were on schedule. In a statement, Hawaiian Airlines president and CEO Peter Ingram stated, “I am incredibly thankful for all our staff that worked so hard to keep our passengers at the forefront of all they do.” “They overcame the pandemic’s ongoing operational challenges to resume industry-leading punctuality as we expanded our domestic network in the United States, restored interisland flights and resumed international services, supported essential cargo transportation and charter flights, and served our local community with aloha. Our turnaround is a result of their relentless work, and I’m really proud to be a member of this company.” Delta Air Lines came in second with 88.22% on-time arrivals, followed by Alaska Airlines with 83.17%, American Airlines with 81.58%, United Airlines with 79.81%, Spirit Airlines with 76.74%, Frontier Airlines with 76.64%, Southwest Airlines with 75.78%, JetBlue Airways with 72.31%, and Allegiant Air with 68.26%. Hawaiian Airlines outperformed the overall average on-flight rate by over 9% points in 2021. Hawaiian Airlines also announced this week that nonstop service between Oakland and Kona will be reinstated this summer, as well as the addition of a second daily route between San Francisco and Honolulu.
