The Dubai-based airline, flydubai has officially announced it is expanding its route network and plans to operate to over 80 destinations. The low-cost carrier has stated that it will be resuming flights to Iran next week and will expand its network in Russia to 11 destinations, with the introduction of 3 new routes.

Like the majority of flydubai flights, these three new routes will operate out of Terminal 2 at Dubai International Airport (DXB). From May 12th, the carrier will operate its flights to Moscow Zhukovski International Airport (ZIA), then Novosibirsk Tolmachevo International Airport (OVB) from May 28th and finally Perm International Airport (PEE) from June 10th.

The low-cost carrier will also be resuming flights to Iran next week, specifically to Bandar Abbas International Airport (BND) from 12 May and Mashhad International Airport (MHD) on the 12th and 13th of May respectively. Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai, Jeyhun Efendi stated that the resumption of these new services “will hopefully enable more passengers to travel this summer.”

According to the Chief Executive of flydubai, it has been approximately 11 years since the carrier’s first flight to Russia. Since then the carrier has been expanding its reach across Russia and has its passengers with direct access to the United Arab Emirates from key Russian cities, many of which are under four hours flight time.

In a company statement the CEO of flydubai, Ghaith Al Ghaith said “We’ve made Dubai much more accessible and at the same time improved connectivity to more than 155 destinations from Dubai’s international aviation hub. Today, we are pleased to see our operations take off once again as we continue to support trade and travel between the countries.”

Last month, flydubai announced that it was resuming flights to both Bodrum (BJV) and Trabzon (TZX) in Turkey in addition to Batumi (BUS) in Georgia, which have all been added to the airline’s seasonal schedule starting in May and running right up until the end of August. The Dubai-based airline has also introduced “an extended multi-risk travel insurance,” which according to flydubai will “offer passengers a greater peace of mind when travelling.”
