Frederik “Fessor” Sørensen has announced that he is parting ways with South effective immediately as he did not believe that the project with his more experienced countrymen was a good fit, although the youngster is eager to continue playing and is open to other opportunities to keep competing.
The youngster’s departure comes less than a month since the team’s unveiling in August — with only a handful of matches played across four tournaments —, and a day after a painful loss to Spirit Academy.
The Danish squad, led by Mathias “MSL” Lauridsen, has failed to show promise so far, as the team finished 5-8th at the Funspark ULTI 2021 Europe Regional Series 3 Closed Qualifier and the IEM Fall 2021 Europe Open Qualifier, and narrowly missed out on the V4 Future Sports Festival International Cup falling to Sinners in the qualifier’s semi-finals.
South‘s last loss, a best-of-three series against Spirit Academy in the Malta Vibes Knockout Series 2 was the hardest pill to swallow so far, as it put the team out in 25-40th place.
Fessor‘s exit from South means he is out of his third team this year, having started off 2021 in BLUEJAYS‘ international roster before joining up with Philip “aizy” Aistrup in HYENAS, the squad that was disbanded in July when star player Markus “Kjaerbye” Kjærbye retired.
South is down to four players following Fessor‘s departure:
Mathias “MSL” Lauridsen
Philip “aizy” Aistrup
Jesper “TENZKI” Plougmann
Jakob “JUGi” Hansen
