Ex-BMW management board chairman Krüger joins CPPIB as senior advisor in Europe

Date:

The $409bn-managing Canada Pension Plan Investment Board has brought in former BMW management board chairman Harald Krüger as a senior advisor in Europe.

CPPIB said Krüger will focus on identifying and evaluating potential investment opportunities across all asset classes, with a particular focus on the DACH region.

He will also provide counsel on existing investments in the region, which amount to C$63.4bn, or 15.5% of its total investments.

CPP Investments senior managing director Alain Carrier said, “Harald’s extensive experience, knowledge and network across the diverse industrial and investment landscape in Europe will be a great complement to our existing activities in the region across all asset classes.

“All of us at CPP Investments are looking forward to welcoming him to our team.”

Krüger joined BMW in 1992 as a management trainee in the production division, before working his way up through roles in engineering, human resources, planning and technical integration in Germany and the UK.

He joined the management board in 2008 and became chairman in 2015. He has been a member of the supervisory board of Deutsche Telekom since 2018, and recently peformed the same role at Deutsche Lufthansa.

Last November CPPIB appointed Caravanserai Partners founder and managing partner Zubaid Ahmad as a senior advisor for the United States.
