Everything we know about the Diablo 4 release date

Avatar

Blizzard’s annual BlizzCon event left Anaheim behind and went online this year, but that doesn’t mean the developer didn’t have big release news for the next game in the Diablo franchise.

After the complete disaster that was Activision Blizzard’s reveal of mobile game Diablo Immortals, this year’s BlizzCon focused on what the developer planned to bring to its PC and console fans. Those fans got what they wanted with this year with a more detailed BlizzCon reveal of Diablo 4.

When is Diablo 4’s release date?

While fans didn’t get an exact date for Diablo 4, they did get an answer to when the anticipated game won’t release. Blizzard told attendees that Diablo 4 won’t be out in 2021, counter to what a report from Kotaku saying that the game would release sometime later this year. Blizzard has been doing quarterly development blogs since the game’s original reveal, but this year saw an inside look at two of the game’s classes and revealed the game’s likely boss, Lilith, the daughter of Diablo 2 antagonist Mephisto.

Diablo 4 see the return of the Druid and adds Rogues to class list

Blizzard is notorious for taking it time in releasing its flagship titles, and it even delayed the release of World of Warcraft expansion Shadowlands by several months last year. It’s likely that the team working on Diablo 4 was impacted by last year’s delays as well. But despite not getting an answer on the game’s release date, fans did get an awful lot of information about Diablo 4.

The game will include classic Diablo class the Druid, as well as a new class in Rogues, who look an awful lot like Diablo 3’s Demon Hunters.

Diablo 4 should be a commercial hit whenever it finally releases, but that wasn’t all the Diablo news at this year’s Blizzcon.

Classic Diablo 2 returns Diablo 2: Resurrected remaster

The studio also announced Diablo 2: Resurrected, an overhauled and remastered version of the classic hack-and-slash. The remaster seems further along than Diablo 4, with preorders live and an upcoming technical alpha that players can opt in to on the game’s splash page.

Although it seems like there might be quite a wait yet for Diablo 4, Blizzard’s current lineup should have enough for fans to enjoy until its release. Between Diablo 2’s remake, Shadowland’s patch 9.1, the upcoming addition of The Burning Crusade to World of Warcraft: Classic, Hearthstone: Forged in the Barrens, and Overwatch 2, Blizzard fans are going to need a bigger hard drive.

Fortnite World Cup Winner Nyhrox Joins Red Bull Gaming

The Red Bull Gaming team grows further with a Fortnite World Cup Champion.

Professional Fortnite player Emil “Nyhrox” Bergquist Pedersen is joining Red Bull Gaming as an esports athlete, the Norweigan confirmed today on Twitter. He adds himself to an extensive list of influential competitive gamers throughout history who hold the distinct honor of calling themselves a Red Bull Athlete. Nyhrox is one of only three players to achieve Fortnite’s most significant accomplishment in its four-year history.

He and former duo partner David “aqua” Wang journeyed across the pond in July of 2019 to claim their first Fortnite World Cup Championship. The European pair outplayed 49 of the world’s best tandems to earn that accolade and a cool $3M USD to split. Nyhrox channeled his extensive accomplishment into a deal with a premier presence in esports.

Nyhrox Announces Red Bull Gaming Sponsorship

The Norweigan joins all-around icon and former Fortnite superstar Tyler “Ninja” Blevins as a select few Red Bull-sponsored gaming athletes. “Officially a Red Bull Athlete,” wrote Nyhrox in a tweet earlier today. A picture included in the tweet shows Nyhrox in a Red Bull hat and several logos throughout his space.

The energy drink company has not acknowledged the signing on Twitter or their official website. This signing is a significant accomplishment for Nyhrox, a current member of the Noway-based Nordavind DNB esports organization.

Red Bull Gaming in History

Tyler "Ninja" Blevins poses with a Red Bull can in front of his gaming setup.

The team behind Red Bull involved themselves in esports very early in the going. Former professional Halo player David “Walsh” Walshy became the brand’s first ambassador and sponsored gaming athlete in 2006 while he and his team Final Boss dominated the Major League Gaming circuit. Walshy continued with the brand for an extended period throughout the remainder of his competitive gaming career.

Current 100 Thieves Owner and CEO – Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag – inked a deal with Red Bull Gaming during the height of his professional Call of Duty career in 2013 and reconnected in 2019 after 100 Thieves’ creation. Many other esports athletes have filtered in and out of Red Bull Gaming since 2006.

The addition of Nyhrox makes him the first full-fledged Fortnite professional to possess a solo sponsorship with the energy drink brand. While the deal’s exact ramifications are not clear at this point, we can expect a lot of content and perhaps an official statement regarding Nyhrox and Red Bull.

North American esports organisation Enthusiast Gaming has announced its intention to list shares on the NASDAQ, as the company aims to expand its shareholder base and increase development.

As such, the organisation, which owns Luminosity Gaming, Overwatch League franchise Vancouver Titans, and Call Of Duty League side Seattle Surge, has filed a Registration Statement on Form 40-F with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Form 40-F being declared effective by the SEC is a requirement for the organisation to list common shares on the NASDAQ. Enthusiast Gaming is already on the Toronto Stock Exchange, as well as the OTCQB, which is an American mid-tier equity market.

“While we are very much a global company, the US remains our most prominent source of audience and revenue. Naturally, a US registration is a significant milestone for the company,” commented Adrian Montgomery, CEO of Enthusiast Gaming.

“We are the largest gaming media platform in North America and believe a NASDAQ listing will allow us to enlarge our shareholder base and accelerate our growth strategy, including our M&A [merger and acquisition] roadmap. This registration statement is a final step towards a NASDAQ listing.”

Enthusiast Gaming has a significant operational presence in the US and Canada, through the ownership of esports franchises and other entities. Last month, it was revealed that the organisation was set to acquire news and strategy guide platform Icy Veins for €7m (~£5.99m). As of this writing, confirmation of the purchase has yet to be announced.

Esports Insider says: For big entities such as Enthusiast Gaming, having a way to increase its revenue and incoming investment opportunities is a good thing. Having strong organisations like Luminosity Gaming, Vancouver Titans and Seattle Surge in the company’s portfolio will also certainly help motivate investors to buy company shares.

The company looks to transform sales propositions into more compelling investment opportunities for brand partners while boosting revenue streams through sponsorship, digital, and ecommerce.

While the official launch of Fuse Ignite was just announced, the company is already working with a number of rights holder clients, including Arsenal FC, England Netball, and the British Fashion Council.

The company recently helped Formula 1 enhance its approach to partner acquisition.
