Entropiq shock Heroic to lock in Legends Stage spot

Date:

An exciting series between Entropiq and Heroic was concluded in favor of the underdog team, 2-1, to ensure their advancement to the Legends Stage where the likes of Natus Vincere, Liquid, and G2 await.

Heroic was in a great spot to close out the series in two, having won their opponent’s map pick of Ancient and taken a 6-1 lead on the T side of Nuke, but Dmitry “hooch” Bogdanov‘s men didn’t give up.

Fearless play on the offensive sides of Nuke and Mirage got Entropiq back into the game and led them to the eventual victory in the series. With prior wins over Astralis and Movistar Riders they are propelled into the next stage, while Heroic‘s loss combined with an earlier one against Copenhagen Flames put Casper “cadiaN” Møller‘s team on the brink of elimination.

Entropiq didn’t give up after a loss on their map pick

Heroic picked up a 5-1 lead on the defensive side of Ancient but failed to leverage a hot start into a strong halftime result. Vladislav “Krad” Kravchenko‘s double entry on B started a good run for Entropiq who broke their opponents’ money to equalize at 5-5. The Russians looked good to end the half ahead, but Ismail “refrezh” Ali supported a B site retake for a minimal Heroic lead before the switch.

With a 3-1 CT start things were looking good for Entropiq, but they failed to provide much more on the defensive side of their map pick. Heroic‘s notoriously tricky mid-rounds were impossible to deal with for Aleksey “NickelBack” Trofimov‘s team, who didn’t manage a single gun round and fell 16-10.

CT woes continued for Entropiq on Nuke as Heroic played with their rotations to set up a 6-1 lead. A lobby push stopped that streak and recognizing what works, Entropiq continued to get into Heroic‘s faces to salvage the half. From 7-8, the CIS side pushed on to take a 13-9 lead, Heroic fought back with good individual holds, but eventually faltered to the great opening work displayed by NickelBack and Krad.

Explosive rounds from Entropiq continued on Mirage, giving little respect to the team ranked No. 5 in their world as they took mid control and performed site splits with little objection from Heroic. Not a single Danish player reached double digits as they swapped sides 11-4 behind, and there was no danger in that lead for Entropiq, despite what common wisdom says. NickelBack‘s team won the pistol and closed out the map to claim the series, 2-1.
