Libertarianism is an ideology that runs deep in the tech world. Libertarianism (from Latin: libertas, meaning “freedom”) is a political philosophy and movement that upholds liberty as a core principle. Libertarianism stresses individual rights over community responsibility.
As we witnessed lockdown across the country due to the coronavirus pandemic, Elon Musk is calling on Americans not to give up their liberties too easily. “We should be concerned about anything that is a massive infringement on our civil liberties,” Musk added.
In an interview on the Joe Rogan podcast, SpaceX CEO Musk doubled down on his stance:
“We should not give up our liberties too easily. I think we did that, actually…. If you are at risk and wish to take a risk with your life, you should have the right to do that.”
