Hyundai IONIQ 5 powers electric acts of kindness for new social media campaign

“Leatherhead, 8 June 2022 — Hyundai Motor UK has launched an innovative social campaign, using IONIQ 5’s V2L technology to create an act of kindness that supports the brands vision of Progress for Humanity.

“During May, Hyundai Motor UK ran a public vote where social users could select one of three acts, designed to showcase the technology of IONIQ 5. Following the vote, electric acts of kindness was created by Innocean UK with a focus on conveying Vehicle-to-load (V2L) and how IONIQ 5 can be used to power a diverse selection of electric items and lifestyles.

“Two films were created with street performers, Sherika at CRATE St James’ in Walthamstow and Genevieve at God’s Own Junkyard. Within the films IONIQ 5 arrives to power a range of equipment including amps, speakers, electric guitar and a confetti machine. Over a 5-hour period, the car used just 10% of battery to power the performances and, other than the items used, no modifications were made to the car when capturing the footage.”

Audi continues to roll out charging hub after success of initial pilot phase

“Feedback following the pilot phase of the Audi charging hub in Nuremberg turned out to be overwhelmingly positive. The fact that repeat customers accounted for some 60 percent of charging sessions confirms the Four Ring’s globally unique, urban charging concept. Starting in the second half of the year, a second compact Audi charging hub pilot site will open in downtown Zurich, followed by sites in Salzburg and Berlin. Additional sites are slated to open in Germany in 2023 and mid-2024.”

Plugging the gap… homeowners are bolstering the UK’s EV infrastructure by renting out their driveways

YourParkingSpace.co.uk hosts 4,892 electric vehicle private spaces at 1,700 private locations across the UK

“Electric revenue… electric vehicle owners generate 14 per cent more income than normal driveways.

“Homeowners with an electric vehicle (EV) charge point on their driveway are helping to make range-anxiety a thing of the past by renting out their driveway to EV owners looking for somewhere to park and charge their car, claims the online parking portal, YourParkingSpace.co.uk.

“As of April 2022, there were around 30,290 publicly available EV charging points available in the UK, equating to just 45 devices per 100,000 of the UK population. This represents a worrying shortage in EV charging infrastructure and is commonly cited as one of the biggest reasons why more motorists are not making the leap to all-electric.”

Wireless Charging

New research shows Electreon’s wireless electric vehicle charging technology could reduce global CO2 emissions by more than 1%, on average, year-on-year

“Wireless EV charging technology is not new but has yet to take the world by storm. In the transport sector, which accounts for 21% of worldwide emissions, wireless EV charging could present a credible solution to reduce CO2 emissions. Of the 21% of CO2 pollution generated by transport, 74.5% is caused by road vehicles. There is therefore a growing need for more sustainable and scalable EV charging solutions as private EV ownership is set to increase, and global EV fleet numbers — such as vans, buses, and trucks — are predicted to grow as well.”
