Elden Ring: How To Complete Irina & Edgar’s Questline

Date:

Elden Ring questlines, like many past FromSoftware titles, can be a bit obtuse. Irina & Edgar’s questline is unusually straightforward, but it takes you through a challenging area in Weeping Peninsula: Castle Morne.

Following this questline and exploring the castle will reward you with many powerful weapons and tools for your journey ahead, including the legendary Grafted Blade Greatsword. This questline doesn’t have a happy ending (like so many quests in Elden Ring), but it does offer a unique glimpse into the Lands Between.

Starting Irina’s Questline

  • Ride to the far south of Limgrave until you come across the Bridge of Sacrifice. Rest at the Bridge of Sacrifice site of grace on the southern side, then travel further south along the road a short distance until you encounter Irina.
  • Speak with Irina, and she will tell you of the revolt at Castle Morne, where her father, Edgar, rules as the Castellan.
  • Agree to take her letter to her father, and you will receive Irina’s Letter.
  • Ride further south, past the scattered Misbegotten. You’ll eventually come across a merchant resting nearby a site of grace. Continue heading south after that.
  • Warning: if you are traveling at night, you will encounter a Night’s Cavalry field boss near the merchant.
  • As you continue south, you’ll come across the map fragment for the Weeping Peninsula.

At this time, a giant Archer Golem guarding the entrance to Castle Morne will begin firing arrows at you as you approach. Zig-zag on your way to the castle. Deal with the Golem or run past him, and you will find a site of grace just inside the Castle Morne gate.

Finding Edgar In Castle Morne

Castle Morne has several side paths, and the area is worth exploring as you can discover the Claymore, Steel-Wire Torch, and the Whip weapons—along with several Smithing Stones and other crafting materials. Beware, however: Castle Morne is home to some fiercely difficult enemies, especially if you haven’t leveled up much in your travels. Be prepared to take on large groups of Misbegotten and dogs, with some twists and turns thrown in for good measure. This guide will follow a straightforward path toward quest completion, but consider exploring more when you have the time.

  • Take the lift up into the courtyard, and remember to send the lift back down—death lurks around every corner in Castle Morne.
  • Run across to the far side of the courtyard, following the wall along the left side. You’ll run past three dogs, but they’re easier to deal with than the huge cluster of Misbegotten standing around the massive pile of bodies on the right.
  • Run past the Lesser Pumpkin Head enemy and take a right. You’ll find another Misbegotten hacking away at a body on the ground.
  • At the far end, you’ll find a ladder to climb up.

  • Once you reach the top, a Misbegotten will immediately be rushing you from the stairs to the right.
  • After defeating him, you’ll want to head up those massive stairs. You’ll find one Misbegotten on the bridge and two flying Misbegotten. These enemies can be tough, so be careful.
  • At the far end of the bridge, hidden behind some barrels and boxes, you’ll find a ladder on the left side.
  • Head down this ladder to the landing below. Ahead, you’ll find several Misbegotten battling with knights of Castle Morne. They’re all busy killing each other, so you can probably get away with running through them—just be careful. Head past the fight and up the stairs at the far end.
  • At the top of the small tower, you’ll find Edgar, Castellan of Castle Morne.

Edgar’s Duty & The Grafted Blade Greatsword

  • Deliver Irina’s Letter to Edgar.
  • He will be glad to hear that Irina survived, but he refuses to leave Castle Morne until the Grafted Blade Greatsword is secured from the Misbegotten threat.
  • From Edgar’s tower, run back across the parapets to the far end. It might seem like a dead-end, but if you leap over the wall to the left, you’ll find a most welcomed site of grace.
  • After resting, head downward. In the distance, you can see a tree on a small island. That is your destination.
  • Continue descending the broken walls, battling enemies and looting corpses as you go. You’ll eventually drop down from a bridge onto a tower rooftop.

After reaching the bottom, make sure to grab the site of grace just beside the base of the tower—it is located on the bottom structure, just before reaching the beach below.

From here, you can see the golden boss fog down on the beach.

Leonine Misbegotten Boss Fight

This boss is a tough battle, especially if you are still relatively low level. If you haven’t already, consider returning to the Roundtable Hold (or Church of Elleh) to upgrade your weapons with any Smithing Stones you’ve come across on your travels.

Just outside the boss fight, you’ll be able to summon Castellan Edgar. He can help tremendously with this fight as the Leonine Misbegotten is a very aggressive adversary with unevenly timed attacks. Being able to trade aggro with Edgar can give you the time you need to heal up and prepare for your next assault.

After defeating the boss, you will receive the legendary weapon, the Grafted Blade Greatsword.

Completing Edgar & Irina’s Questline

  • With the Grafted Blade Greatsword in hand, return to Edgar up on the tower in Castle Morne. He will thank you for relieving him of his duty to the blade (you can still keep it of course), and he will then travel to meet up with Irina on the road.
  • Travel to the Bridge of Sacrifice site of grace and return to where you last saw Irina. You will now find Irina slain at the end of a Misbegotten blade with Edgar collapsed at her side. Speak with him for some final words of vengeance.

This might seem like the end of the questline, but there is actually one final piece—it just doesn’t come until later in the game, after reaching Liurnia of the Lakes.

Seek out the Revenger’s Shack along the western edge of Liurnia of the Lakes, located north of the Minor Erdtree. After touching the site of grace there, you will be invaded by Edgar the Revenger. He seems to have gone mad in his grief over his slain daughter, and he must be defeated.

Defeat him, and you will receive his Banished Knight’s Halberd +8, 1 Shabriri Grape, 1 Furlcalling Finger Remedy, and 5 Raw Meat Dumplings.
