EasyJet has announced a total of twelve new domestic routes across the United Kingdom, with the majority of these services scheduled to commence by the beginning of July. The UK based carrier will also be adding three regional airports to its domestic network.
For the first time, easyJet will be launching flight operations from Belfast City Airport (BHD) with flights to London Gatwick Airport operating twice daily from July 9th. EasyJet will also be returning to Leeds Bradford (LBA) and East Midlands (EMA) airports with services to Belfast International Airport (BFS).
According to easyJet, these flights to Belfast International Airport were previously operated by Stobart Air under the Aer Lingus Regional franchise agreement. As of last Saturday, Stobart Air has ceased flight operations and entered liquidation, with only a handful of flights being operated by BA City Flyer and Aer Lingus, easyJet now hopes to provide what it describes as “key connectivity between the regions.”
In a company statement, easyJet’s UK Country Manager, Ali Gayward said “These additional new routes today should prove popular and will further strengthen our UK domestic network providing customers with even more choice.”
In addition to services from both Belfast airports, easyJet will also operate flights from Bristol Airport (BRS) to Aberdeen (ABZ) and Jersey commencing on July 9th and 10th respectively. EasyJet will also be expanding its domestic services from Manchester Airport (MAN) and will ow be offering flights to both Aberdeen (ABZ) and Edinburgh (EDI) in Scotland which is scheduled to operate four times weekly commencing July 9th.
EasyJet has also stated that it will also be providing flights to Jersey from Birmingham Airport (BHX) and Newcastle Airport (NCL). While it will also be providing flights from Birmingham Airport on Tuesdays and Saturdays which will run in conjunction with services from Inverness which will operate on Wednesdays and Sundays. Finally, easyJet will be adding one additional domestic route from Liverpool Airport (LPL) to Bournemouth Airport (BOH), one which may continue after the summer season.
