EA plans to reveal a new Battlefield game, developed for next-gen consoles, in June. The company announced the plan Tuesday during a quarterly earnings call with investors.
“The game has everything fans love about Battlefield,” said EA CEO Andrew Wilson. “Epic scale, all-out warfare, unexpected moments, and game-changing destruction. And it takes it all to the next level with the power of next-gen consoles and PCs.”

Wilson said little else about the game, but promised the company plans to share more about it over the course of the summer. Given the timing, it’s possible the reveal will take place at E3 2021.
In total, EA has three studios working on Battlefield: DICE Stockholm, Criterion and DICE LA. The three studios work in tandem with EA’s tech team in Gothenburg, Sweden, forming the largest development team in Battlefield history.
The new game will be one of two new Battlefield experiences set for launch in the coming financial year, the other being a mobile game. That game, which Wilson says is entering early testing now, will be developed by Industrial Toys in partnership with Battlefield steward DICE.
Battlefield V saw release in 2018 and was set in World War 2.
