Doublelift And Bjergsen Reunites Under 100 Thieves For The Upcoming 2023 Season

Doublelift and Bjergsen are teaming up once more.

After weeks of rumours, it has finally been confirmed that AD carry Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng is making his long-awaited return to the LCS. The eight-time LCS champion has signed with 100 Thieves alongside a star-studded roster that includes another familiar name, Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg. This marks the third time players will play together in their illustrious careers.

Joining both superstars will be toplaner Milan “Tenacity” Oleksij and support player, Alan “Busio” Cwalina. Both players were previously with 100 Thieves Academy before getting promoted to the main squad. Rounding up the team will be Turkish jungler Can “Closer” Çelik, who has been with the organisation since the end of the 2020 season.

This comes after having lost four players to free agency, two of which joined Evil Geniuses while another decided to team up with Golden Guardians.

The last time Doublelift and Bjergsen were on the same team was back in 2020 with TSM. Having left Team Liquid after the spring split in which they finished in ninth, Doublelift joined TSM mid-way through the summer split and managed to lead the team to lift their seventh LCS title. However, they ended up not winning a single game at Worlds 2020, creating history in the worst way possible.

With two rookies in their lineup alongside three veterans in the game, it will be interesting to see how well 100 Thieves fair in the LCS next season. Doublelift retired after the 2020 season to focus on his streaming career and has since returned to the professional scene, all eyes will be on the most-decorated LCS player to see how well he performs on the big stage.

While we could very well see 100 Thieves dominate the regional scene with the help of Doublelift and Bjergsen, the real test will come with how well they perform on the international stage. Their first real test would be to qualify for next year’s Mid-Season Invitational, which Doublelift came close to winning back in 2019 when Liquid got swept by G2 Esports in the grand finals.
