TSM join the pro-Dota scene with their acquisition of Team Undying

Since Dota 2 is one of the most prominent esports, many top-rated organizations have teams that compete in different regions. Apart from the organizations that have been around for many years, many big esports brands are starting to get involved in the game. T1 fielded a roster last year who made it all the way to TI 10. Now, TSM; a company that is often considered to be one of the best in the world, are also joining the fray.

After having rosters in games, such as League of Legends and CS:GO, the organization decided it was time to try its luck in Dota 2. However, instead of forming a new roster, it acquired an existing team known as Team Undying. The latter was preparing for the upcoming 2022 DPC Winter Tour Regional Finals and it includes several big players.

The Team

Undying is one of the most interesting rosters in the upcoming North America Tour II. The team consists of several respected players, such as David “MoonMeander” Tan Boon Yang and Jonathan Bryle “Bryle” Santos De Guia. As a result, it definitely has what it takes to go up against some of the best in the region. It will be interesting to see if it can bring down NA’s powerhouses, such as Evil Geniuses and Quincy Crew.

In case you don’t remember, Team Undying managed to qualify for the most prestigious tournament in Dota 2 called The International 10. Although it was not easy, TU earned its spot through the NA qualifiers. Unlike other teams in the event, this one was funded by fans and the players themselves.

Although people expected them to perform better, the team could not shine. After losing several matches, Team Undying finished in 13th place. This allowed them to get $600,300, which is an impressive amount of money.

The Future

Many people expected Team Undying to disband after failing to live up to their expectations. However, it didn’t happen. The roster decided to stick together, and they started competing in the 2022 DPC. In fact, MoonMeander and co. finished second in the Winter Tour. Allowing them to break the “third place curse” they’d been dealing with. After spending the last couple of months without a sponsor, Team Undying finally has a big organization behind it in the face of TSM. Needless to say, this is one of the biggest names in the eSports industry.

In addition to the two players mentioned above, TSM’s new roster consists of Enzo “Timado” Gianoli O’Connor, Jonáš “SabeRLight-” Volek, and Kim “DuBu” Doo-young. The team will have to show what it’s capable of really soon. In just a couple of days, they’ll compete for $100,000 USD and 380 DPC in North America.
