Dota 2’s patch 7.29 will feature the 120th hero added to the game, but have we already seen who they are? It’s entirely likely that thanks to Dota: Dragon’s Blood, we’ve already seen the new hero coming in Dota. Sadly, it’s probably not going to be Marci, even though she’s far and away from the most interesting of the new characters in the anime. In addition to this, we’re also going to get balance changes, but what’s more important? Balance or a new hero? Not even close.

Praise the Goddess

While personally, Marci would be a lot of fun, instead, it’s more likely to be the goddess of the moon, Selemene. This is all hypothetical, of course. It would make sense, though. One point is that the teaser for patch 7.29 is a dark purple color scheme, and the previous new heroes also had a matching color teaser. We can also look at the anime. We had several characters from Dota 2 show up, but only one or two major new people could be heroes.

Selemene is a major character from the Dota 2 lore, after all. She is worshipped by several of the major heroes and by the elves at large. Depending on what side of the anime you’re on, she’s either a savior, a divine goddess that aids her worshippers, or a treacherous usurper, pure evil. She gaslights her followers, and when they commit heinous acts, she blames it on the follower.

We don’t have a real clear idea of what she can do, other than the fact that she’s the goddess of the moon. She has incredible magic power and the ability to manipulate and influence mortals easily. We won’t have too long to wait either, thankfully. But it’s exciting to know that the Dota anime could very well have teased one of the new characters coming to the MOBA. It could also potentially be the most powerful Dragon Knight of the anime, Kaden.

Kaden is brutal, efficient, ruthless. It would be nice to see another Dragon Knight in the game, especially one that doesn’t need to transform into a Dragon to brutalize people. Kaden is the only Dragon Knight to survive a fight with an Eldwyrm, so he’s got that going for him as well. Before long, we’ll have our answer. We’ll keep you in the know on the new hero picked and what they bring to Dota 2. We’ll know on April 9!
