Digital Asset Hardware Wallet Service Provider Ledger Vault Completes SOC 2 Type 1 Examination

Date:

Demetrios N. Skalkotos, the Global Head of Ledger Vault, a leading cryptocurrency hardware wallet service, has confirmed that Ledger Vault has completed the (System and Organization Controls) SOC 2 Type 1 examination.

Skalkotos has shared the attestation report which highlights Ledger’s “continuous commitment in providing the highest level of security for its global enterprise clients.”

Skalkotos remarked:

“The SOC 2 Type 1 attestation, coupled with our comprehensive Crime insurance policy, brings Ledger to the forefront of industry leaders. [The] next steps in Ledger’s continuous improvement process will be SOC 2 Type 2 in 2021.”

As confirmed in a blog post by Ledger Vault:

“[The company is] now able to provide an additional layer of verified security to [its] clients, assuring that the Vault solution is secured at all times and that we have the processes in place to ensure availability. Our clients can rest assured that our systems and processes have passed rigorous compliance methods to achieve this validation.”

As noted by Ledger Vault, Friedman LLP’s SOC 2 Type 1 examination had assessed the design and implementation “effectiveness” of the company’s system of internal controls, as they relate to both the security and availability to ensure that their control framework addressed the following:

  • Logical and physical access control;
  • Security Control;
  • Business Continuity and disaster recovery plan;
  • Penetration testing performed by an independent external security laboratory;
  • Continuous security assessment by the internal security team

Charles Guillemet, CTO at Ledger, stated:

“As the digital asset market matures, certifications, and assurances are critical for developing a trusted security ecosystem. Receiving this attestation is an achievement as it shows our processes and systems are streamlined, documented, and overall secure, ultimately giving our clients the confidence that their digital assets are safe with Ledger.”

Pascal Gauthier, CEO at Ledger, noted:

“This is a great opportunity for Ledger throughout the world, especially in the U.S., where we anticipate extensive growth in the coming years. We are quite proud of this achievement, as it confirms our commitment to the highest industry standards. In fact, this milestone is just the beginning. Ledger plans to reinforce this attestation with a SOC 2 Type 2 in 2021”
