DICE has removed the fan-favorite Rush game mode from the featured playlist in Battlefield 2042‘s Portal mode.
The mode has been a prominent feature of the Battlefield games for years, and in Battlefield 2042, despite other parts of the game receiving criticism, Rush was praised by players when it was put into this installment.
According to developers, they want to change the game often to add variety to the game and keep it fresh, but many players have actually called for the game mode to be a permanent fixture in Battlefield 2042.
They pulled RUSH from Portal in Battlefield 2042 despite major interest by the community to keep it permanently.

With all of the other issues currently in Battlefield 2042, it’s a surprise to see DICE deciding to remove one part of the game that has worked so well. While variety is great, the old saying “if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it,” has to be considered here in the eyes of Battlefield fans. One user even went to Twitter to say that Battlefield 2042 players “deserve more,” criticizing developers for the choice.
Despite the outcry of fans’ frustrations, EA and DICE continue to market new additions to the game, trying to add more to the game instead of working on the issues that fans are calling out for fixes.
Earlier today Andy McNamara, EA’s global director of integrated comms for shooters, in a now-deleted thread even expressed his frustrations with the community backlash.
McNamara later apologized for the “lack of clarity” in his tweets.

Here’s hoping DICE and EA will soon start listening to what Battlefield 2042 fans want to see and rebuild the relationship with the Battlefield community.
