Crysis Remastered Will Still Launch For Nintendo Switch In July

Date:

Crysis Remastered was set to have its first gameplay reveal earlier this month, ahead of a July 23 release date. But following the negative reception to the leaked trailer, both the reveal and release date were postponed. At least, for most consoles it seems.

Crysis Remastered will, in fact, still launch for Nintendo Switch on July 23. The news was shared on Crysis’ Twitter page, which means you only have another two weeks to wait to play the 2007 classic on-the-go with Nintendo’s latest console. The Xbox One, PS4, and PC versions were not mentioned in the update.

The sudden announcement is curious given the omission of all other platforms, as well as the statement from Crytek to further work on the game to meet fan expectations. It’s not clear what is different between this imminent Switch version and those slated for more powerful hardware, and whether the additional work required on them is specific to features not possible on Switch hardware.

Crysis Remastered is a rework of the original first-person shooter to make it more compliant with modern hardware. Having been ported over to the latest iteration of CryEngine, the game should presumably perform better with modern CPUs, while also featuring new graphical enhancements such as a software-based ray-tracing solution that is possible on current-gen hardware.
