COVID-19: The GA Aftermath

The year 2020 will go down in aviation history as an almost total waste of time and human resources for the Australian aviation industry. Now the media at large has concentrated on the airline industry but there has been scant coverage of how the virus has affected the general aviation industry. 

The year started as normal with a lot of domestic and international air travel but then overnight a government edict had the airlines shut down and bulk airline aircrew were furloughed, retired early, made redundant or fired. Expatriates flying overseas returned to Australia increasing the numbers of experienced airline aircrew out of a job. Tiger Air with 220 pilots, gone.
