There were a couple of big virtual reality (VR) releases last week one of which was military shooter Onward for Oculus Quest. Allowing Quest owners to team up or fight PC VR players, if you’ve not yet delved into this hardcore FPS then we’ve got the perfect competition for you.

If somehow you’ve managed to completely sidestep all the Onward coverage of late – because it has been a bit of a big deal – the videogame is primarily focused towards 5v5 team-based warfare where players compete in objective-based modes such as defending or attacking key locations.

The gameplay is all centred around realism, so there are none of the usual features such as crosshairs or mini-maps. The same goes for your loadouts and weapons. There are a variety of guns to choose, from AUG’s and M16’s to rocket launchers and sniper rifles, all of which need to be manually reloaded in their own way. You can take additional items like mags, grenades and health syringes with limited to what you can hold.

Rather than heading straight into a multiplayer battlefield there are also solo and co-op modes to help you get acquainted with the weapons and levels. Solo modes have AI to practice against plus there’s also a shooting range.
