Here’s the solution to the City of Hidden Runes Domain found in Genshin Impact 2.7 and its event Perilous Trail: Danger All Around.

The puzzle in the City of Hidden Runes Domain seems intimidating and complicated at a first glance, but it’s actually pretty simple once you get how it works.

How to Solve The Symbols Puzzle in Genshin Impact Perilous Trail: Danger All Around and City of Hidden Runes

When you enter the Domain, you’re on the main platform, with an altar showing four different symbols in four different colors: Violet, Green, Yellow, and Blue.

There are four platforms in the Domain with symbols of the same color. If you end up on the platform with only violet symbols, then you need to step on the same symbols as the violet symbol on the main platform’s altar.

When you’re done, all the symbols will disappear and monsters will spawn. Most notably groups of Rock Shieldwall Mitachurl and Stonehide Lawachurl. So you should bring a Claymore character or a Geo character like John Lee or Noelle to easily break their shields. See the video below showing how you solve the Violet symbols platform:

You need to follow the same steps for the three other platforms, and you’ll be done with the first part of the puzzle and Domain.

Solving the Lightshapers Puzzle

On each platform of the Domain, there are now Lightshapers you can interact with. You need to move them in order to hit the symbols on the opposing platform with their light. You can move and rotate the Lightshapers. See how I do it in the video below:

Once you’re done with these steps, a new path will open, follow it to clear the Domain.

As a side note, each time you switch platforms, you will be hearing voiced dialogue lines from Xiao. The event as a whole has some primordial lore so it’s a shame that as always, it’s time-limited. New players who pick up Genshin in the future will have a lot of catch-ups to do on wikis.
