Here’s our first Power Rankings following the initial week of matches
The Call of Duty League got underway this week. With 10 matches played, here’s our first set of Power Rankings.
12. Paris Legion
Paris Legion looked great in their match against Atlanta FaZe, pushing them to a game five. However, with a 3-1 loss to Florida Mutineers after, they sit bottom of our Power Rankings. Unfortunately for the Legion, they don’t seem to have improved much with this new roster. While they have the possibility to upset, they haven’t been able to do it this week.
11. New York Subliners
The New York Subliners went into the CDL 2022 season with an unbelievable roster on paper. However, this hasn’t translated to results in the league. With some communication issues becoming prevalent between the veterans and the youngsters, NYSL has some problems to iron out before they can move up our rankings.
10. Florida Mutineers
The Florida Mutineers finished the week with a 1-1 record, getting 3-0’d by the London Royal Ravens and securing a 3-1 win over Paris Legion. Their Search and Destroy looks great, winning over 70% of their offensive rounds since the kickoff classic. If Skyz and Vivid can step up as they did against Paris, the Mutineers have a great opportunity this season.
9. LA Guerrillas
While the Guerrillas have been inconsistent, they showed what they can really do in their 3-1 victory over the New York Subliners. Asim was dominant in this matchup, and if this team can start working as a unit, they have an amazing chance to upset some teams.
8. OpTic Texas
OpTic Texas have suffered so far in the 2022 CDL season. While individuals have been performing, the whole squad are yet to register a win. Two 3-2 losses coming in game five round 11’s show their lack of clutch factor this year, something that will need to be worked on.
7. Minnesota ROKKR
ROKKR sit 7th in our Power Rankings following their 3-2 victory over OpTic Texas. This performanced showed their rosters ability to clutch up and their determination in every map. Standy was also back to his best, performing similar to his best matches last season.
6. Boston Breach
Boston Breach narrowly defeated the Los Angeles Guerrillas in their only match this week. However, their roster looks good, and they have a great chance to put up numbers this season. Capsidal has impressed in his first few matches as a rookie, and will look to continue this in further matches.
5. LA Thieves
The LA Thieves impressed in the Kickoff Classic, and while they suffered a 3-1 defeat to Atlanta FaZe, this was down to multiple mistakes of their own. If the Thieves can iron out these small errors, they could be one of the best teams in the CDL this year.
4. London Royal Ravens
The London Royal Ravens showed some of the best Call of Duty we’ve seen from the franchise since the beginning of the CDL this week. Gismo put his name firmly in the lead for rookie of the year with an exceptional display in both matches, as they reverse swept OpTic Texas to secure their 2-0 record this week. Currently sitting top of the CDL standings, the Ravens are flying high.
3. Atlanta FaZe
Atlanta FaZe nearly shocked the whole CDL community as they lost two maps to Paris Legion. However, this was down to them playing two Gavutu maps, one that does not favour FaZe whatsoever. In further series, FaZe needs to ban Gavutu, otherwise it currently seems like a guaranteed loss.
2. Toronto Ultra
The top two in our Power Rankings look as if they’ll be staying here for a while. Toronto Ultra took a 3-2 loss to Seattle Surge in a matchup that we think will be close all season. While Insight hasn’t quite hit the heights of his 2021 season, CleanX has been dominating, and hopefully he can continue this form.
1. Seattle Surge
Seattle Surge sit top of our Power Rankings as they defeated the New York Subliners 3-0, and Toronto Ultra 3-2. Pred and Sib have dominated, and look incredible for rookies, while the iceman in Accuracy has led the team, and been an incredible IGL. Looking further into the season, Surge need to keep up this form to be dominant and remain at the top.
