With the release of Therian Thundrus in Pokemon GO alongside the Charge Up! event, trainers are curious about its shiny chance.

Niantic Labs has officially launched its very first electric-type themed event, Charge Up! featuring the Therian Forme of the electric-type Forces of Nature member, Thundrus, as the main event. This Pokemon hails from the Unova region and specifically controls thunderstorms. According to its PokeDex description, it is the least popular of the trio as it often flies over the land and starts forest fires with epic bolts of lightning.

Trainers can only find the shiny variant of Incarnate Forme Thundrus at this time. Therian Forme Thundrus does not have an available shiny variant—likely due to the recent nature of its debut.

Incarnate Thundrus has been in Pokemon GO since early March 2020. Its shiny palette has only just been released in mid-March of this year, 2021.

Therian Thundrus has only been in the game for two days with its debut on Tuesday, March 16. It’s likely that trainers won’t see a shiny variant here until this time next year, according to how Niantic published the palette for its Incarnate form.

Shiny Thundrus has a de-saturated periwinkle purple as its main color, covering the majority of its body. Its accents are dark magenta along its body, on its horn, and down its tail. Its clouds, black tail segments, and eyes remain the same.
