Skitty is the featured Pokemon for this week’s Pokemon GO Spotlight Hour feature—so shiny hunters should take note.

This Hoenn region native tends to be popular among cat lovers for its feline-like appearance and mannerisms. Others seem to enjoy it for its cuteness factor—after all, what could be more adorable than a soft pink carefree kitten? It is a pure normal-type and evolves into a larger catlike Pokemon, Delcatty, when given 50 candies.

Trainers will be able to encounter Skitty in increased numbers from 6 to 7 p.m. local time. Each capture will reward double the catch candy.

Skitty was implemented in the game with the first wave of Hoenn releases in December 2017. Its shiny form debuted three years later in May 2020.

Shiny Skitty can be a bit difficult to tell apart from its normal color palette counterpart. While a typical Skitty features a cream underbelly, face, and fronds on its tail, with a pale pink overcoat covering its ears, back, and tail, shiny Skitty’s palette is tinted orange. Its underbelly becomes a deeper yellow and previously pink coat turns into an orange sherbet shade.

Trainers can encounter Skitty in the wild—typically in suburban environments during partly cloudy weather. Its last and most common egg distance group is the 5km.

Skitty is also known as the “Kitten” Pokemon with a PokeDex number of 300. According to its PokeDex description, much like a kitten, Skitty “has the habit of becoming fascinated by moving objects and chasing them around.” Its most common victim is its own tail, which it will chase to the point of dizziness.
