Call of Duty: Warzone’s new update focuses on bug fixes, Hunt for Adler progress

A minor update for Call of Duty: Warzone is now live, focusing on fixing some issues with the Hunt for Adler limited-time event.

Players attempting to finish the challenges in Hunt for Adler were met with an issue where progress wouldn’t track. But today’s update should fix that problem.

The event is nearly over and Raven Software says that it’s “considering several options and will update you soon” on what it plans to do about possibly extending the event’s duration.

Other bug fixes in the patch include several new out-of-bounds glitches, a reduction in the size of first and second circles in Verdansk Resurgence, and the disabling of open mic at the end of matches with infinite respawn mechanics.

At the end of the notes, Raven teased its next update, which will include changes to the CR-56 AMAX, FARA 83, and Bullfrog, and ADS firing speed on Cold War attachments.

The full patch notes can be read below:

General

  • The sizes of the first and second circles have been reduced for Verdansk Resurgence.
  • End-of-game open mic has been turned off for modes with infinite respawn mechanics. This was intended to take effect with the release of season three last week.

Bug fixes

  • “Hunt for Adler” Limited-Time Event
    • Fixed a bug with Challenge completion not tracking as intended.
    • Fixed a bug causing Intel to spawn outside of the playable map.
  • Fixed several map locations in Verdansk that allowed players to reach out-of-bounds areas.
  • Fixed a bug that would cause gas mask overlays to remain on screen indefinitely if a player exited the gas as their gas mask was fully depleted.
  • Fixed a bug where the epic loot M82 Semi-Auto Sniper was incorrectly labeled as thermal.
  • Fixed a bug where the Modern Warfare “Razorwire” Submachine Gun Charlie blueprint could appear in loot caches.
  • The R1 Shadowhunter Crossbow has had its reload audio restored.
  • Fixed a bug that disallowed players from exiting the plane in Battle Royale Practice mode.
  • The explosion in Verdansk’s vista no longer dances around when viewed from different angles. Thanks Geeky P.

Fortnite Console Champions Cup was announced by Epic Games on May 6 with a start date set for May 14.

“Introducing the Console Champions Cup, the first installment of a seasonal console-only Fortnite tournament. Compete in the Console Champions Cup May 14-16 with a $250,000 prize pool across all regions,” Epic Games said in the announcement.

Epic Games also released a checklist in terms of how to participate in the event:

“The Console Champions Cup will be the first installment in a series of seasonal, cross-platform, console exclusive tournaments. We’re still making adjustments in the calendar for future tournaments, so we don’t have dates for the following seasons just yet, but we’ll keep you posted when we do,” Epic Games said.

“Don’t worry, we’re also still planning on offering additional platform-specific console tournaments with in-game rewards up for grabs, just like we did with the Switch Cup and the Aloy Cup.”

Nintendo spent $880 million on research and development last year, mentions next platform after Switch

Avatar

Nintendo’s latest financial report for the fiscal year that ended on March 31 shows the company had its highest operating profit ever, 36 different titles that sold over one million copies on the Switch during that period, and 84.59 million units sold for the console.

But one of the most interesting aspects of the financial report is Nintendo’s continued heavy spending on research and development, with approximately $880 million going into R&D between April 2020 and March 31.

This was highlighted by Daniel Ahmad, senior analyst at Niko Partners, and later summarized by games analyst and adviser David Gibson, who highlighted portions of Nintendo’s actual results call.

When asked about the specifics of the R&D spending during the question and answer portion of the call, one Nintendo representative noted because the Switch is halfway through its lifecycle, software and additional outsourcing costs are increasing for the console. That also includes the cost per title being developed increasing, investing in online features, and other areas as needed.

Along with that, the speaker also said that, despite the console only being at an estimated midway of its hardware cycle, some of that investment has gone towards “the next platform, where hardware and software integrated will continue.”

That comment plays into the rumors of an updated Switch model being released later this year, but it could also mean that Nintendo has only just begun laying the groundwork for whatever console will release once the hybrid-device reaches the end of its lifecycle.

The actual financial report documents don’t mention any specifics about R&D spending outside of the total amount being listed and noting a “a rise in research and development expenses.” So for now, these comments are the only information we have to go on until Nintendo announces new hardware in the future.
