It is Friday, so you know what that means: the first day of the Call of Duty League’s latest Home Series Weekend tournament is finally here. After a rather long wait this time around, we have the Call of Duty League New York Subliners Home Series Weekend event to look forward to this weekend.

Call of Duty League New York Subliners Home Series Is Beginning of the End

Interestingly enough, the Call of Duty League New York Subliners Home Series Weekend event is the beginning of the end for the first season of the Modern Warfare league. There are only three events left in the normal season, and this weekend is the first of them.

After that, it will be time for the championship tournament sometime in August, where the 12 teams in the league will compete to see who will come out on top as the best team out of this inaugural season. What’s even crazier is that fans have a lot of content to look forward to this month.

Though we had a long break since the last Home Series Weekend hosted by Paris Legion, there will be three back-to-back for the next three weekends, starting with the Call of Duty League New York Subliners Home Series Weekend. We have a jam-packed weekend ahead of us, so let’s jump right into our preview.

New York Subliners Home Series Start Date and How to Watch

The Call of Duty League New York Subliners Home Series Weekend dates are set and will begin today, Friday, July 10 through Sunday, July 12. This weekend is set for three days of matches with a ton happening across all of them.

If you are interested in checking out the event live as it happens, be sure to head on over to the Call of Duty League YouTube channel where that streaming service is the exclusive partner for all of the livestreams this season of the league.

You can also find the livestream on the official Call of Duty League website (both mobile and desktop) as well as in the mobile app for the series. These latter two locations are where you want to be if you are looking to get some free goodies just for watching live.

If you miss out on the event live this weekend, all of the matches will be posted online afterward for you to watch on-demand on the league’s YouTube channel.

Subliners Home Series Teams and Groups

The Call of Duty League New York Subliners Home Series Weekend is no different from any other events that we have had up until this point. There will be eight of the 12 teams here in attendance. This event will be the second-to-last one for all of them in the normal season.

Here are the eight teams that will be participating this weekend:

  • Toronto Ultra
  • Paris Legion: Hosts of the previous weekend
  • Chicago Huntsmen
  • London Royal Ravens
  • Los Angeles Guerrillas
  • Atlanta FaZe
  • Minnesota Rokkr
  • New York Subliners: Hosts

As always, the event will begin with the first two days being the group stage portion of the tournament. Group A consists of Paris Legion, Toronto Ultra, Atlanta FaZe, and Los Angeles Guerrillas. The hosts for the event, New York Subliners, are actually in Group B with the London Royal Ravens, Chicago Huntsmen, and Minnesota Rokkr.

Current League Standings

Going into the Call of Duty League New York Subliners Home Series Weekend, it is important to see where we are in the league. The leaderboard had a massive shakeup at the last Home Series. This will likely continue this weekend.

Here are the current leaderboard standings from first place to last place:

  • Atlanta FaZe
  • Florida Mutineers
  • Chicago Huntsmen
  • Dallas Empire
  • Minnesota Rokkr
  • London Royal Ravens
  • New York Subliners
  • OpTic Gaming Los Angeles
  • Paris Legion
  • Toronto Ultra
  • Seattle Surge
  • Los Angeles Guerrillas

The current standings for the league is nothing at all like it was for a while. Teams like Florida and New York have begun climbing their ways through the ranks to take down foes in front of them. With everyone on the same page in terms of the number of events played, anything could happen this weekend.

Match Schedule for Day 1

Like in the previous tournaments, the match schedule is only set for the first day. The other two days are largely determined by the results of the first part of the group stage. As such, there are only four matches that we know of at this time.

The first match of the day will feature Toronto Ultra versus Paris Legion where we will get two teams that have been largely not the best lately. But there is the chance that Toronto will show up here and deliver, as they have been known to surprise us once or twice before.

This will be followed by the second matchup that will be Chicago Huntsmen versus London Royal Ravens. This match will be a relatively simple one, but it will be interesting to see what happens here. The third match of the evening will be an even simpler matchup of Los Angeles Guerrillas and Atlanta FaZe.

Finally, the marquee match of the night will be the fourth and final, as well as the hosts of the event, New York Subliners, have their first match of the event. They will face off against the Minnesota Rokkr, a team that is in quite a complicated situation at this time.

Day 1 Match Expectations

With the four matches in place, we can dive right in and take a look at what we think will happen with all four of them. Also, we will go beyond that and predict what we think is going to happen across the entire weekend, including the winners of it all.

For the most part, this event doesn’t look to be too exciting in terms of surprises, but you never know at the same time. The biggest benefit for every team here is that we have had such a long break since the last tournament in the league’s first season.

With that being the case, teams have had this time to figure out what their strategy is going to be moving forward for the rest of the season and make any changes that will help them get to the highest position possible on the leaderboard by the end of the season.

There are times when a long break like this has affected a team negatively or positively, so it could go either way for some of them. But the first match is between Toronto Ultra and Paris Legion, two teams that are currently neck and neck in the leaderboard.

Paris Legion is an okay team that started the season rather decently as one of the middle teams but hasn’t done much since then. On the other hand, Toronto has been a bad team that has had some shocking results, especially within the last few events they participated in.

As such, it does make this match possibly go either way, but we are going to go on a limb and give it to Toronto Ultra in this case. The second match is a little bit easier to figure out as we have Chicago Huntsmen going up against the London Royal Ravens.

The Royal Ravens are another team that was in the top half of the leaderboard for so long and still are but have faltered some in recent memory. Given the track record between these two teams, it should be a fairly easy win for Chicago.

The third match should be an easy one to figure out, but you never know. Atlanta FaZe will duke it out against the Los Angeles Guerrillas, the last place team in the league. Atlanta has had some rough events lately. Even though they are still in first, they lost the last two grand finals they were in, which is not a good sign for them.

The Guerrillas also nearly defeated Atlanta in their last match together. So, in this case, it comes down to how FaZe handled the last couple of weeks. Have they figured out what went wrong before and are actively working towards fixing it? Or will we continue to see them struggle?

We do think that Atlanta will win against Los Angeles here, but here’s hoping that it isn’t an actual struggle like before. This will lead to the fourth and final match of the night, which is an interesting one: Minnesota Rokkr versus the hosts, New York Subliners.

I think that it is pretty clear that Minnesota is struggling a lot right now as a team that is on a pretty bad streak of losses and not doing too hot in competitions. Meanwhile, New York has been upping their game and moving in on the sixth and even fifth place spots. I’m going to go on a limb and say that New York will win this match.

Winner Predictions

This will lead to the second day of the Call of Duty League New York Subliners Home Series Weekend, where things will start to get interesting. If it goes the way that I predicted on day two, we will see a matchup of Atlanta FaZe versus Toronto Ultra.

If Atlanta is back in its A-game, it should be an easy win for the team to be the first to move on to the third day, followed by the Group B match of Chicago Huntsmen and New York Subliners. I do think that this would end with Chicago beating New York.

On the other side of things, we would have a match between Paris Legion and Los Angeles Guerrillas. This is a complicated one that could honestly go either way. For excitement’s sake, we are going to go with Los Angeles Guerrillas winning this match as they have shown they can step up sometimes.

The fourth match of the second day will be Minnesota Rokkr versus London Royal Ravens, based on my initial predictions. Both teams are roughly around the same spot on the leaderboards, but London has fared much better than Minnesota. I’m going with London for this match.

This will lead to a tiebreaker match where Los Angeles Guerrillas will face off against Toronto Ultra. This would be an intriguing matchup that could go either way. But because LA won the last time they battled, we will say that the Guerrillas will win this and make it to the finals.

The final match of day two would then be the New York Subliners versus London Royal Ravens. New York got smoked the last time these two-faced, but this could be their chance to push through and potentially take their spot on the leaderboard. In the end, though, I’m going for the safe answer on this one and saying London will win.

This will lead to the finals where Atlanta FaZe will face off against London Royal Ravens. Atlanta should win this one pretty easily. On the other hand, Chicago Huntsmen will take on LA Guerrillas. This should be an easy one for Chicago as well.

If this is the case, we will finally see a grand finals match of Atlanta versus Chicago. This matchup of the titans hasn’t happened this season. This is possibly the place where we will see it. If this were to happen, I think Atlanta would come out on top and be the winners of the Call of Duty League New York Subliners Home Series Weekend.

What’s After the New York Home Series?

With the New York event now broken down, what is next for the Call of Duty League? The next event will be the penultimate one this season and will be the second London Royal Ravens Home Series tournament. They are the only team to host not one but two Home Series this season.

Here are the eight teams that will compete there:

  • Dallas Empire
  • Paris Legion
  • Seattle Surge
  • London Royal Ravens
  • Los Angeles Guerrillas
  • New York Subliners
  • Florida Mutineers
  • OpTic Gaming LA

For some of these teams, this will be their last event, so they should give it their all. At the same time, though, will this be where Florida will become the first team to get a fourth Home Series win? Only time will tell. This tournament is next weekend, Friday, July 17 through Sunday, July 19.
