Henry ‘HenryG’ Greer on Twitter has announced his departure from Cloud9, ending his 8-month stint as the general manager for the North American side’s CSGO division.

A former CSGO caster, analyst, and a former CS: Source player, HenryG took up the opportunity in September 2020 to rebuild Cloud9’s entire CSGO division alongside Aleksandar ‘kassad’ Trifunović as the head coach after the 32-year-old Brit chose to retire from casting. Dubbed as the ‘Colossus’, he went on to build a European team featuring Alex ‘ALEX’ McMeekin as his first signing to the lineup followed by bringing aboard Özgür ‘woxic’ Eker and William ‘mezii’ Merriman from Mousesports and GamerLegion respectively.

In a statement on Twitter he said,

Today’s the day that @Cloud9 and myself will be parting ways.

Thanks to @JackEtienne for the opportunity and the players for their hard work and time.

It’s truly a shame how things panned out with a lot of mitigating circumstances but plenty of positive memories, too.

The roster was then rounded off with the signings of Patrick ‘Es3tag’ Hansen from Astralis and Ricky ‘floppy’ Kemery, who decided to continue his career at Cloud9 after being initially dropped by the organization, the team led by Johnny ‘JT’. The Colossus obviously had their ups and downs including a wobbly start at Flashpoint season 2 but they did manage to post a strong comeback at the Blast Premier Fall 2020 Showdown.

With kassad and woxic shortly leaving the team after the assembly, Cloud9 once again saw themselves in a position to restructure their team, with the players forced to shuffle their in-game roles and Erick ‘Xeppaa’ Bach alongside Chris ‘Elmapuddy’ Tebbit joining the team as their fifth and head coach respectively. These changes eventually continued to thwart the team’s plans adding up to inconsistent results across a plethora of tournaments.

In the past week, the Colossus was dissolved with the players been transfer listed over the fact that the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic hindered the lineup to team up in North America followed by the remote training program not adding up entirely to the team’s performance. Cloud9 last played in Group C of the ESL Pro League Season 13 where they were denied a spot at the playoffs by MIBR

After nearly a week and half, HenryG addressed his situation with Cloud9, with whom he parted ways with and would eventually return as soon he hits the right opportunity.

“While the space is in this strange transition period I have decided to take a sabbatical and enjoy some of the normality that life has to offer. It’s certainly been a while.

I will be back eventually when the right opportunity arises.

Be good to each other.

RIP Cobain.”, he concluded.
