Built By Gamers and Andbox eliminated from VCT Stage 2

Andbox and Built by Gamers were eliminated from Valorant Champions Tour Stage 2: North American Challengers 1.

The closed qualifier for the VCT Stage 2 has already seen two teams eliminated from playoff contention. Andbox and Built By Gamers were dropped to the Lower Bracket by 100 Thieves and XSET respectively. Both teams were defeated 2-0 by their counterparts in one-sided series to move them to elimination contention. Immortals and Version1 were also brought down to the Lower Bracket after losing to Cloud9 Blue and Envy.

Andbox has performed consistently throughout past qualifiers, but has failed to make any appearances at closed qualifiers. Stage 2 appears to be the same story for Andbox who have looked solid but have been unable to perform when it counts. Despite their loss to 100 Thieves, Andbox was still able to push Immortals nearly to overtime on both maps. Built By Gamers revived their roster by signing Raymond “Rarker” Xu and Jake “POACH” Brumleve before the closed qualifier. The team was able to defeat Stage 1 Masters Champions Sentinels to secure their place in the closed qualifier. However, a 2-0 loss to XSET brought them up for elimination early in the tournament.

Andbox and Built By Gamers give it their best in the Lower Bracket

Immortals and Andbox were evenly matched in their match in the Lower Bracket. Andbox selected Split as the first map in the best-of-three which was tied 6-6 at the half. Immortals struggled in the second half of Split, allowing Andbox to go up 11-9. Four back-to-back rounds on attack propelled Immortals to victory 13-11 over Andbox.

Ascent, picked by Immortals, was a similar story this time with Immortals taking a two-round lead at the half. Andbox pushed back during the second half by taking both pistol rounds to tie up the series. Another four consecutive rounds put Immortals once again in the lead, but it was quickly matched by Andbox who put up four rounds of their own. Ultimately, Immortals were able to secure the final two rounds of the game and prevent overtime.

Version1, a recently formed team, took the team that dethroned Sentinels to a game three in the Lower Bracket. Built By Gamers took the first map Bind, which was picked by them, after taking the lead 8-4 at the half. Version1 answered map in overtime on Haven after winning the final round to push the score to 12-12 for OT. Finally, Verion1 demolished BBG on Split in the final map of the series 13-8 after they were ahead 7-5 at the half.

Pokémon GO announces new event to celebrate new Pokémon Snap

Pokémon GO has officially announced a new event starting on Thursday, April 29 at 10 a.m. that goes through Sunday, May 2 at 8:00 p.m. local time to celebrate the release of the upcoming Pokémon Snap game for the Nintendo Switch.

The event will feature Pokémon inspired by the landscapes in the Lental region, the setting of New Pokémon Snap. Lotad, Cacnea, Ducklett and more will appear more frequently in the wild during the event. Other Pokémon from the region will appear in raids and special research tasks.

Smeargle will also make a special appearance. During this event, taking a snapshot of a Pokémon in Pokémon GO may spawn a Smeargle or even a shiny Smeargle. Players need to look out for if Smeargle photobombs the snapshot. If it does, it will appear on the map.

During the event, players will get special research tasks that involve taking snapshots. These tasks will give players exclusive event-themed rewards.

New Pokémon Snap

New Pokémon Snap is the spiritual successor to the original Pokémon Snap for Nintendo 64, which came out in 1999. Since then, there have been plenty of other Pokémon titles, but not another Snap game. In 2021, that’s changing, as the new game will release on April 30.

The game takes place in the Lental Region, where players must travel the lands with a camera, taking pictures of all the different Pokémon in the region. There are over 200 unique Pokémon in the Lental Region, and players will need to find them in the wild and get photos.

Not all photos are equal, however, and players will need to work to get the best possible photos. Photos earn better ratings if they perfectly capture the Pokémon and if the Pokémon is performing a special pose or unique move.

The Pokémon GO event provides players with opportunities to get plenty of unique Pokémon and get hyped for the new game.

Fortnite streamer Scoped joins Team Liquid Fortnite roster

Avatar

On April 14, one of Fortnite’s youngest prodigies, Tyler “Scoped” Appleby, announced he’s joining Team Liquid’s Fortnite roster. The squad, which already consists of some of the top players in the scene, is now solidified heading into FNCS Chapter 2 Season 6 and beyond.

Scoped waited quite a long time to join an organization. But when Team Liquid came calling, he felt the time was right. He’s best known for his time playing in duo tournaments with Turner “Tfue” Tenney during 2019-2020. However, since Tfue quit Fortnite, Scoped has grown his fan base significantly and increased his level of play to become one of the biggest Fortnite streamers on Twitch.

Team Liquid signs Scoped

So far in 2021, Scoped hasn’t competed in many high-profile Fortnite tournaments. His biggest accomplishment this year has been finishing third in the Season 5 Week 7 Champion Cash Cup. He scrimmages most days with a variety of teammates but no concrete squad has surfaced this year.

Moving forward, he could begin to team up with Team Liquid’s Fortnite players, which include:

  • Dmitri “mitr0” Van de Vrie
  • Josef “Stretch”
  • Thomas “72hrs” Mulligan
  • Thales “Pulga” Henrique
  • Alixxa

While the competitive side of Fortnite is still important to Scoped, one of his main focuses in the short-run is expanding his content. Scoped stated that “my only really big goal for this year is to try and produce more IRL content and maybe do face-cam streams as well.”

It certainly seems like Scoped, who’s only 17 years old, wants to expand his horizons beyond simply playing and competing in Fortnite. Now that he’s signed to an organization, this content should become much easier to produce.

There’s currently no word on what Liquid’s future plans are with Scoped now in the fold. Fans can keep up with Scoped and Team Liquid’s social media accounts to be updated on all announcements, though.

Fortnite: Team Liquid Signs Scoped To Roster

Avatar

Scoped, a long-time free agent, signs with Team Liquid.

Team Liquid’s presence in Fortnite Battle Royale has withered significantly over the last few months. After a few critical roster changes, the once prolific and heavily involved esports organization seemed unsure of its standing in the competitive scene. Team Liquid essentially cleaned house and allowed Fortnite World Cup Finalist River “Riversan” Handley and two-time Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS) Finalist Evan “Cented” Barron to leave. These moves left only Stretch, Dmitri “Mitr0” Van de Vrie and Thales “Pulga” Henrique as the remaining professional remnants of a brand that went all-in on Fortnite at the beginning.

That remained the case until today when Team Liquid revealed a new member of their resurging Fortnite roster. The organization announced the signing of Tyler “Scoped” Appleby, a popular Twitch streamer and competitive Fortnite player. After going an unfathomable amount of time without a brand to represent, Scoped has finally found a home.

Liquid Scoped

Liquid produced a three-minute video to welcome the 17-year-old professional Fortnite player to the team. Interlaced throughout the video is a series of Fortnite clips from many months of impressive gameplay. Scoped appeared in the flesh as well to say a few words about the signing.

“So, I’m a 17-year-old high school kid. I do online school at the moment while I take on streaming and YouTube videos full-time, and I’ve grown a pretty big following so far,” he said. “I’ve waited a long time to join an org, and once I found it Liquid was interested me, I think it was my time to sign to an org and I’ve only heard good things about Liquid.”

Scoped then stated that he wants to make more in real-life (IRL) content and perhaps even some face cam streams. It seems that Scoped is joining Liquid as an all-around content creator as opposed to a strict competitive player. Regardless, he will certainly be competing in tournaments moving forward.

Rise to Stardom

Scoped’s competitive Fortnite history dates back to 2019 around the game’s World Cup era. He remained somewhat unknown until Twitch superstar Turner “Tfue” Tenney decided to run with Scoped as a duo partner. Tfue had been looking for a suitable replacement after he and Dennis “Cloakzy” Lepore parted ways. Scoped and Tfue went on to find success in Duo Cash Cups and eventually qualified for FNCS Chapter 2 – Season 2 Finals, where they secured a 16th place finish. Since then, Scoped regularly pulls around 5k viewers per stream, where he flashes his Fortnite abilities on controller.

Some of Scoped’s singular achievements include two Solo Cash Cup victories and a fourth-place in the FNCS Invitational. With over 400k followers on Twitter, 549k YouTube subscribers and a consistent Twitch stream, Scoped is an outstanding Team Liquid pick-up as they march forward in the Fortnite scene.

Morgana may now have League’s fastest jungle clear after buffs

Avatar

Published

on

With new adjustments made in patch 11.8, control mage Morgana is now possibly the fastest jungle clearer in the game.

In a recent video, a player showcased how Morgana can now fully clear the jungle in just under three minutes at level 1. This sort of clearing speed isn’t usually seen from any jungler, and could potentially make Morgana viable in a completely new role in the patches to come. This is due to the recent changes made in patch 11.8, where Riot specifically targeted five champions and buffed their damage against neutral monsters, Morgana being one of them.

The player managed to fully clear the jungle in just 2 minutes and 57 seconds. This was primarily done by utilizing the AOE damage on Morgana’s Tormented Shadow (W) and leashing camps in such a way that they clump up in the AOE damage for maximum efficiency.

How to clear the jungle with Morgana

The Morgana player started at the Red Brambleback while pulling the Crimson Raptors. Pulling both camps enabled Morgana to use Tormented Shadow and quickly clear all of the monsters at once while sustaining herself through her Soul Siphon passive, which provides self-healing as a result of magic damage. After taking down the first two camps, Morgana went on to clear the Ancient Krugs, for which she leveled up Dark Binding (Q) to help burst down the bigger monsters in the camp.

With the bottom side of the jungle cleared, Morgana ran towards the top side to quickly finish the last three camps on the map. She starts out with Wolfs and then takes down the Blue Sentinel and Gromp at the same time. Just like with the first two camps, it’s possible to gather Blue Sentinel and Gromp in the middle between the two camps to save time. With two levels in Tormented Shadow, the camps go down in no time.

The only thing that stood in Morgana’s way was the mana cost of her abilities. With more mana regen, it’s possible that Morgana could potentially make the clear happen even more quickly. Nonetheless, Morgana managed to regenerate enough mana to clear the jungle in under three minutes and stay at full health without using a single potion.

Morgana

What is Morgana’s role?

Morgana can play different roles in League of Legends but was originally known as a control mage in the mid lane. In past seasons, Morgana has been used more commonly as a support since her Black Shield (E) is great for protecting vulnerable carries. After patch 11.8 in season 11, Morgana is now also suited for the jungle.

Is Morgana good for beginners?

Morgana relies heavily on hitting her Dark Binding skill shot and timing her Black Shield perfectly, making her hard to master. With that said, Morgana also has aspects of her kit that are very beginner-friendly. For farming and dealing consistent damage, Morgana is fairly easy to learn as her main damage from Tormented Shadow is easy to hit. Her Soul Shackles (R) is also a simple spell and will enable beginners to make game-deciding plays without much practice.
