Developer Triangle Factory will be conducting an open alpha later this year.
Earlier this week, Hyper Dash developer Triangle Factory revealed its next original VR game, Breachers, a tactical multiplayer FPS for Quest, PC VR, and Pico VR headsets. Based on the trailer, the game appears to take inspiration from close-quarters shooters like Rainbow Six Siege.
In this team-based competitive shooter, two teams of five go head-to-head in objective-based battles. In the video we see one team planting an explosive device and setting up a defense while the opposing team uses grappling equipment to scale the side of the building before breaching through a window.
In addition to weapons, it appears as though we’ll have access to a variety of traps, sensors, and other useful gear. This includes an explosive charge which can be used to create new entry points as well as futuristic camouflage. It looks as though these items can be purchased at the start of each round using some form of in-game currency. If Breachers is anything like competitive games of this type, you’ll be able to earn more in-game money by winning matches.
While the VR market certainly isn’t lacking in the first-person shooter department, Breachers’ close-quarters tactical gameplay could be a refreshing change of pace from current “run-and-gun” shooters.
Anyone familiar with Rainbow Six Siege will tell you just how important it is to lean from behind cover. Room-scale VR technology could take this mechanic to the next level by allowing players to interact with their environments in new and exciting ways.
