Everything noteworthy that happened on the second day of the BLAST Fall Finals.
On the second day of BLAST Premier Fall Finals 2022, two teams made their exit while the other six moved on to the playoffs. The two teams to top their groups haven’t just booked a ticket to the Semifinals — which will be held on the main stage at the Royal Arena in Copenhagen — but also secured their spot in the BLAST World Finals in December. Meanwhile, the other four will duke it out in twos in the “Quarterfinals” to meet them in the aforementioned semis. Without any further ado, then, let’s take a look at what transpired yesterday.
BLAST Fall Finals – Group A
After a dreadful first day, OG were eager to come back with a bang. Ninjas In Pyjamas had also floundered spectacularly, and they also had plenty to prove. In the other matchup, FaZe Clan were on the bounce from their recent failures, while Heroic wanted to re-establish their own well-earned dominance on the food chain.
OG vs Ninjas In Pyjamas
On OG’s map pick of Ancient, the young side was left scrambling for rounds on the T-side and only managed to get to 5 thanks to a couple of late efforts. They were much stronger on the CT-side as the map leans that way anyway, but just when it looked like they had everything under control, NIP managed to come back and tie things up. In the second bout of Overtime, however, NIP prevailed and took the game 22-19. As far as ratings go, it was a tight battle at the top between NIP’s Patrick “es3tag” Hansen and OG’s Shahar “flameZ” Shushan.

The second match, on Vertigo, was a much simpler 16-10 win for NIP. They took a strong 7 rounds on the T-side, and all but shut out OG’s offensive to close out the game. For the winning team, Hampus “hampus” Poser was a force of nature and Ludvig “Brollan” Brolin gave him some crucial fragging support.
FaZe Clan vs Heroic
You’d expect matches between two of the top teams in the world to go right down to the wire, and that’s precisely what happened on Heroic’s map Ancient. Heroic had a strong first half and looked all set to win with a strong economy and a 7-round streak in the 26th round, but an insane clutch from Robin “ropz” Kool and five consecutive rounds from FaZe secured the game 16-14 for the former world number ones. The clutch notwithstanding, the real hero of the game was Helvijs “broky” Saukants with an astounding 34 kills.

If anyone had thought that Inferno would be as close an affair as Ancient had been, they were sorely mistaken. FaZe were incredible on the offense and took a whopping 11 rounds before shutting down proceedings at just 16-5. This time, it was Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken and Finn “karrigan” Andersen who led the way for FaZe.
Group B
Being South America’s only representative at the event, Fluxo had high hopes riding on them, but they’d have to withstand the might of G2 in order to progress. In the other game, Liquid and Na’ Vi would both be keen on starting a new chapter following subpar Major performances.
Fluxo vs G2
Dust 2 is usually a pretty balanced map all things considered, but when Fluxo picked it, they weren’t ready for the 13-0 situation G2 put them in. Getting the last two rounds on the T-side gave them the slimmest of paddings, but they couldn’t do much on the other side and lost in an unceremonious 16-4 fashion. Rasmus “huNter-” Nielsen and Nikola “NiKo” Kovač were both top-tier for G2.

Mirage was more like a CSGO match and less of a bot-killing session for G2, with constant back-and-forth that made it anyone’s game until right at the end when the French clan managed to string three rounds together to close the game out. Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov was the best man on the server by some margin.
Natus Vincere vs Team Liquid
These two teams have been having thrilling encounters since the beginning of pro CSGO itself, and this was no different. Liquid’s map pick of Inferno went right down to the wire, but a surprise pop-off from Liquid’s In-Game Leader Nick “nitr0” Cannella with some help from Keith “NAF” Markovic saw the Americans squeeze through by the barest of margins.

Infuriated, Na’ Vi came back swinging and picked up a massive 12 rounds on the T-side of their map pick of Dust 2. However, Liquid didn’t go down without a fight and took the game into nervous territory for Na’ Vi before they could end it at 16-12. Despite another stellar performance from NAF, it was a team effort from Na’ Vi that won out in the end.
If Na’ Vi had shown real prowess on the T-side of D2, Liquid showed similar prowess on Mirage with a devastating 11-round T-side. Na’ Vi did put up a bit of a fight despite being 13-4 down at one point, but they still lost by a humiliating 9 rounds. Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev was a one-man army, but nitr0 was once again ballistic, and this time he had Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski for backup.
