Bitcoin and Doge Wait for SNL on Musk

Date:

Pete Davidson joked that he wanted to pay for the cast dinner with Elon Musk until he saw the bill. A better joke may be Dogecoin has added nearly $40 billion since it was announced Elon Musk is to host Saturday Night Live (SNL).

It would be the ultimate irony, Musk said, if a currency that started off as a joke ends up being used as the currency.

There’s a chance cryptos are the future of currencies, he said. And then the question is which one? So shrugingly and with a bit of smile he then cautions to not invest more than you can afford to lose.

To the moon, he ends his session in public signing autographs just days before America, and this time maybe Europe too, gets to see what the best minds of culture and variety have to present in what may well be SNL’s most watched episode in its long history.

To the tututing of some, Davidson lashed out. “I just don’t understand why this is the dude everyone’s so freaked out about,” Davidson said. “I was like, ‘What did he do? He’s just like a really wealthy businessman that makes, like, nerd s—.’ I don’t know. He’s really nice. I’m excited.”

Well, some people hate America, and success, and democracy, and freedom, and unfortunately some of them get to opine on our papers. Michael Che maybe said it best:

“I think white people just don’t like their billionaires for some reason. It’s weird, because we love our billionaires. If Oprah or Tyler Perry was coming, we’d be all excited about it.”

Well, $40 billion is quite an excitement. Bitcoin has turned bullish now too, while eth is nearing another all time high.

It is arguably because of this phenomena that Musk is invited. As the most prominent bearer of the crypto flag, SNL perhaps wanted to honor us.

After their sketch skit on NFTs, this cultural icon presumably saw that cryptos have the potential to do more for culture and art than anything else available or practically imaginable.

Naturally therefore they want to sing a hymn for it may be the only thing that can save art. And even if it doesn’t directly, it opens the space for experimentation, it gives the ingredients for people to put effort and thought into making it work, or at least trying.

NFTs of course may be a bubble, but the quadrillion question is whether they are a bitcoin sort of bubble. A bubble that keeps bubbling forever. Like gold, which some banker once called a 2000 year old bubble.

If there’s even the slightest chance they are this sort of bubble, how can SNL have any choice but jump with excitment.

Hence this episode that has a cryptonian rocket builder to really send us to the moon and Mars with it his opportunity to perhaps show the best of America and maybe inspire the new generation which is probably watching with their entire family.

Or the expectations are so high that nothing more than a disappointment can be expected. Maybe there won’t be a shibe at all, or any mention of crypto (aaaaaa). No talk about rockets or why we should go to Mars. No show off of solar paneled Tesla cars. In other words, not hosted by our Musk but some alien Musk.

Nah, it should be fun and even if it isn’t, we’ll pretend it is because this is quite an upgrade from some Doge race car in 2014 to prime time TV watched by Biden and maybe even the Queen, perhaps Putin too, not sure about Xi, Merkel maybe too grumpy for it, but Baerbock maybe will watch it.

Because the pen gets to talk, and hopefully it talks well, including to those that hate America so that they can see what it means to actually create, and actually innovate, and actually drive the world forward, and all while being free. Or more correctly, because we are free.
