BIG edge past Entropiq in Roobet Cup opener

Date:

Group A’s opening series in the Roobet Cup between BIG and Entropiq went the way of the Johannes “tabseN” Wodarz-led team after they came back from a map behind to win the very streaky and momentum-heavy match 2-1.

Heading into the match for first place in the group, where they will face the winner of FaZe vs. OG, BIG will hope to put their recent losing record in the back of their minds after they were unable to win a single map in the previous four series they played at the Pinnacle Cup Championship and the BLAST Premier Spring Final.

Krimbo had a great series to kick off BIG’s campaign

After having Karim “Krimbo” Moussa fall ill in the former event in Lund and coach Fatih “gob b” Dayik at the latter in Lisbon, the German side was back in full force in the first match at the online Roobet Cup.

BIG stepped into the series on the right foot at first, looking comfortable on the CT side of Overpass as they picked up a 9-6 half despite being down 0-4 early on, but they ended up losing the opener after disappearing on the offense, with a Aleksei “NickelBack” Trofimov 1v2 clutch kickstarting a monster CT half for Entropiq.

Moving into Dust2, another big defensive streak from the Russian squad, spearheaded by Nikolay “mir” Bityukov, put BIG in trouble heading into the second half, but with everyone firing on all cylinders the Germans executed a near-perfect defense of their own to equalize the series.

Astralis vs. Movistar Riders Roobet Cup match postponed

CT sides had been the name of the game, but on Mirage it was the offense where both teams found great success. 1v2 and 1v3 clutches from tabseN and Tizian “tiziaN” Feldbusch saw BIG take over the first half from the start, and a few more disadvantageous rounds going their way seemed to put the final nail in Entropiq‘s coffin.

The game was far from over despite the scoreline being 11-4 at halftime, however. A must-win pistol went Entropiq‘s way with mir securing a clutch of his own, and little by little the Russians began to threaten BIG‘s lead. It wasn’t until 12-13 that the favorites finally found a winning combination in a double-AWP setup and a couple of key Deagle picks two rounds later, which helped them prevent the massive comeback and close the game 16-13, 2-1.
